Scare Review| Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2025 – VIP Night

Last night we attended the launch of Fright Nights 2025 and it absolutely blew us away. Here are some HONEST reviews from what we managed to experience across our evening. A massive thank you to Popcorn PR & Thorpe Park for having us join them for this VIP launch.

Scare Zones:

Crows of Mawkin Meadow – 5/5

What a scare zone, well, borderline maze in its own right. These characters arrived at fright nights a few years ago and ever since I’ve had this deep-seated fear of them. This little dedicated spot for them was all you could have imagined and if not more. It was so fierce and terrifying. We had some really big jump scares in here and quite truthfully these characters will haunt my dreams from here on. We really admired the theatrical section too. The storyline of the crows is pretty straightforward to follow too and the setting of this zone with the added theming is absolutely flawless. Please Thorpe Park never let these leave the park they are insane and sickening all in the best ways!

Purgatory Town – 2.5/5:

I appreciate the extra scare zone however we had little to no interaction within this space. Maybe that was our timings I’m not too sure. The characters looked brilliant though their costumes were created as was their makeup.

Lucifer Lairs – 3/5:

A few more interactions in this space but this houses some shows too. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to catch the shows only the backend of the rock band which was fun. Again, the characters just look brilliant and they have this tense environment too. Really enjoy the vision and maybe we should have spent more time in this area to fully be able to appreciate it.

Scare Mazes:

Survival Games:

There are limits on what I can endure in mazes and the separation more specifically is what I can’t handle so I opted to avoid this!

Stitches – 3.5/5

This was a maze I’ve had my eyes on since the day it opened a few years ago. The theming and sets are just eerie and so beautifully designed. You wouldn’t even realise you’re in a marquee in all honesty. We managed to have 2 run-throughs. Both were quite dissimilar to each other. The 1st was brilliant and really gave us some admirable jumps. The actors were on top form both times. However, the 2nd run through the batching let it down. Watching the actors work their asses off to ensure everyone had a scare due to the amount of people in there at one time was tough to watch but hats off to them for trying so hard. Going by the first run through it’s an extraordinary scare maze if you have the right number of people in your group. The finale is the standout moment for us it was just utterly vile. Also appreciated the pre-show the special effects and the level of detail within that singular room.

Trailers – 4/5:

A returning favourite of ours. Since the moment this maze came around we’ve loved it. It’s nice to see the continuous refreshing and even the tweaks to how the story of trailers is portrayed.  Being at the back of the group is the spot to be. The actors are so full on in each room. It’s by far the strongest couple of runs we have had in here. I absolutely adore seeing characters that are not prominent in the park anymore have their own sections especially Big Top’s clowns & Buckwheats. It’s like these mazes live on in their own way and within their own room of this maze. It’s a timeless maze that simply can never get old or tedious as there’ll always be history to be added.

Deadbeat – 5/5:

Heading into Fright Nights this was the last maze I thought we’d love. The nightclub theme always felt everything other than unnerving to us. We were VERY wrong. Our first run it was just the two of us and quite honestly I’ve never had a maze make us scream that much. The actors popped out of the least typical places they held their positions to the most immaculate points to scare. We’ve seen actors running on the ceiling glass panel lightning all comes together to complete a perfect maze. Both runs we had were solid. The theme lures you into a false sense of security but I promise it was truly terrifying!

Night Rides:

We grabbed a cheeky back row ride on Hyperia and what a coaster. It’s THE best UK rollercoaster by an absolute mile. It packs the punch in every right way. We’re obsessed and utterly in love. The entire park looked stunning with the added lightning and very atmospheric to say the least.

Overall:

This has to be our favourite Fright Nights in years. Of course, the scare maze line-up hasn’t changed since last year but for us, there were a few fresh experiences that we didn’t do in previous years. The actors were all on top form and gave it their absolute all. All mazes & zones were themed beautifully. Thorpe Park has truly outshone itself and we’re utterly in love with this event.
