Last weekend was the first time we visited any Legoland Discovery Centre and it was a delightful surprise. So, let’s have a chat about our visit!
Heading into the attraction, you are given a wristband with an exit time on it. We entered at 11am and had an exit time of 2pm. I’m unsure if this is a regular occurrence or just because we visited on a Sunday during the school holidays. You take the lift upstairs and instantly enter the location of the dark ride with some Lego figures in the corridor to said ride.
Kingdom Quest is a lovely little trackless dark ride that’s interactive. For an indoor attraction away from theme parks it’s a lovely addition for families to enjoy. It’s screen-heavy with some physical set pieces throughout. It’s fun, regardless, and has a decent duration too. As for the sensory aspect, it is quite dark & loud throughout. Liara managed it okay but if darkness and loud sounds are triggering this is something to keep in mind.
We were able to take the pram with us which is always ideal and there was plenty of space throughout for the pram too. There are also accessibility/SEN-friendly pathways away from noise too which is also brilliant to see.
Once we finished with the dark ride you enter Mini Land which was so cool. Seeing familiar landmarks in a tinier version with such small details added and moving landmarks is always impressive and something I love the most. It’s not the biggest of spaces but the attention to detail is terrific. Plus everything interactive via buttons was working too so what’s not to enjoy.
The space then opens up into a large room with soft play, play areas, photo opportunities, building stations, another ride, a cafe and much more. It’s a really impressive area with so much to do. It’s brilliant for the older children rather than those of Liara’s age (2 years old) & non-mobile. However, it’s still a grand area to enjoy with the under-5s soft play being part of it too.
You then head into the final section which is space themed into a disco and again it was really impressive that people have built these models. The special effects added to the rocket are fab too. Liara loved the disco section and couldn’t resist a little boogie. Then you enter the gift shop.
For our first visit, we were very pleasantly surprised as we didn’t know what to expect and weren’t completely confident we were the target audience given we love to build Lego but are not massive on it & Liara is quite small still. However, it was really enjoyable and there’s a lot that can be admired especially the talent of the model makers in producing some of the models and sets throughout. There’s so much for children to enjoy especially those a bit older than toddler age it’s somewhere I can see us stopping by more as our children get older. All of the staff were lovely and we had a really lovely time. We spent around an hour inside and could have possibly spent longer if we weren’t pre-booked for the Sea Life next door. If you have children and are looking for somewhere to visit this is the place to try!
