Minecraft is a huge IP for Chessington to take on and produce a whole land from it. This area was formerly known as Wild Asia. Even though we aren’t Minecraft fans by any means we are still extremely eager to see the park grow in the future. So, let’s dive into what can be expected from this area in 2027.
Minecraft World Hotel:
The former Aztec hotel will be seen as a complete re-theme to Minecraft opening alongside the area. Allowing guests to extend their adventures from the area to an overnight stay too. Every inch of this hotel will be themed to Minecraft from the rooms to the corridors. There’s expected to be attention to detail everywhere in terms of theming. The hotel will consist of 20 premium rooms and 49 standard rooms. The interiors of the rooms will mirror all aspects of the game from blocky trees, mobs and so on. The restaurant which already exists in the existing themed hotel will now be an underwater experience and a bar inspired by Minecraft’s Woodland Mansion. This whole hotel really is going to be a treat for Minecraft fans.
Minecraft World:
Back to the theme park element the name of the rollercoaster for the area has been revealed and will be known as Escape The Nether. All that’s been disclosed is that this will be a high-speed indoor ride that goes through mines and features the outdoor section. This is the first of its kind & is expected to be heavily themed to keep fans within the game. This area will also feature interactive experiences alongside block-built playscapes. The former ride known as Kobra will also be amongst this land in some form too. It’s going to be the greatest place to visit if you are a Minecraft fan and want to feel physically engrossed in the game & theming.
Our Thoughts:
Honestly, as much as we aren’t into Minecraft and do prefer in-house themes. It’s just tremendous to see the park move forward and have an IP that will certainly draw in the crowds to help the park thrive. We’d rather the park thrive than not even if it’s not our preference for experiences. I’m sure we’ll be able to appreciate and enjoy the ride experience regardless. I’m very confident Chessington will do a grand job with this area and it’ll be adored by many. I presume we may see it open sometime during Spring 2027 and we can’t wait to visit to see what it’s all about.
