Trip Report | Late Night Riding & Fireworks: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

We’ve always been huge fans of Pleasure Beach and their late night riding and fireworks during the year. However we’ve never shared our thoughts on the event therefore this blog is all about that. We hope you all enjoy and let us know your opinions.

Opening Hours:

Long opening hours is so hard to come by especially within the UK. The opening hours consist of 10am-10pm so a full 12 hour day. A massive win in our opinion it’s the perfect opportunity to fully embrace this incredible amusement park. What’s not to love about that?

Queue Lengths / Speedy Pass:

Opening – 2pm is usually very quiet and the best time to get those lower throughput rides done. We will go onto to talk about the rides we recommend doing first below. After around 2pm the queues do tend to become a bit busier however we’ve experienced queues to move so much faster then they once did. There’s plenty outside of rides and theme parks to endure. Again it’s something we’ll speak about further in the blog.

We recommend purchasing the speedy pass especially on these late night riding and fireworks events. It’s worth every penny you spend to get the most out of your day. There is of course 3 different tier and prices, each of them reduce the queue lengths by different amounts and include different rides. We’ve got an upcoming blog reviewing the VIP Plus Speedy Pass. We definitely recommend the VIP Plus it reduces queue lengths by 90% during July’s second late night riding every ride was under 5 minutes.

Rides / Dark Rides:

We’d highly recommend heading to Avalanche, Nickelodeon Streak, Ghost Train, Skyforce and Ice Blast first. All of which do not have the throughputs as good as the rest. The likes of Ice Blast and Skyforce are very limited to capacity and in the morning do not get big queues. You’ll enter the park just before or dead on 10am and majority of rides do not open until 10:30/11. However the front end of the park so a Derby Racer, Ice Blast and Alice usually open as you enter.

Nickelodeon Land also opens pretty much straight away so definitely choose your rides carefully first thing in the morning. As the rides mentioned will almost definitely have a larger queue as the day goes on. Icon & The Big One has fab throughputs and the queues may look quite big but honestly it won’t be as long as you imagine.

During late night ridings almost all the rides that can be will be on 2 trains and maximum capacity. Therefore that leaves queue times to the minimum. But who doesn’t love a night ride on some of your favourite attractions & coasters? It is summer at the moment which means night rides aren’t always an option on all your favourites as some rides close at 9pm due to the firing zone of the fireworks. However the later in the year so September / October / November time if you choose your where you’d like your night ride then jump into the queue for 9pm.

Other Experiences:

Everything that Pleasure Beach has to offer other than rides is very overshadowed and overlooked. Let’s begin with their Adventure Golf majority of you probably walk past this when heading to Pleasure Beach. It’s a simple mini adventure golf course with some water hazards on a couple of holes. As for pricing it’s affordable and cheap adults priced at £5 and children under 13 at £3. There’s a couple of packages for families such as family of 3 for £11 or family of 4 for £14. It’s also the location of their picnic area so that’s even more fun.

Hot Ice is very under-appreciated it’s really outstanding and a show we’ll always try to watch. There’s two showings daily except Sundays, one at 2:30pm which is included in your wristbands and one at 7:30pm which an extra fee. If your heading to Pleasure Beach before the 7th September, definitely check it out. Our full review will be linked here.

Ripleys Believe It or Not it’s an extra fee attraction along the seafront towards the Hotels end by Pizza Hut. However it’s the perfect way to break up your day and have a break from the rides. It’s a museum similar to Madame Tussuads but of the weird and wonderful. Our full review will be linked here.

Pasaje Del Terror right next to the park entrance and up-cost attraction. However those who love horror will love this. Head through and come across characters from some of your favourite horror movies whilst having a fright & thrill.

So there’s plenty to do outside of the rides that are equally as fun. We’d recommend breaking your day up by embracing everything else Pleasure Beach has to offer.

Fireworks:

We aren’t going to lie and say to expect the scale firework display of the likes of Alton Towers. However they definitely are not disappointing in any way and really are fab. Watching them light the sky with the skyline of so many unique and classic rides is beautiful. We’ve watched them twice this year and truthfully they’ve come on leaps and bounds from previous years.

Overall:

Would we recommend heading to one of these events? Yes a massive yes in fact it’s worth checking out. It’s the perfect opportunity to embrace your favourite rides, explore what the park has to offer outside of rides and get loads of rides done. We personally adore these events and are something which we’ll always try our hardest to attend yearly. Season Pass holders you still receive free entry to these dates which is also fab. There’s 4 left of the season so make sure to head to Blackpool and check it out.
