Let’s Talk About The Potential Work On Nemesis at Alton Towers:

As many would have seen yesterday, Alton Towers have delivered proposals for maintenance work on Nemesis. The actual degree of this plan is yet to be known but I thought I’d have a little chat about what could be in store & how it’ll potentially impact the ride going forward. By all means with these planning applications, they can be withdrawn or denied at any given stage. Please bear in mind this is all established upon my viewpoints & feelings none of which are facts or expert opinions.

Nemesis is 28 years old and has her big birthday of 30 in the nearby future, could this be a plan to have done in time to commemorate the tremendous milestone? In more recent years the age has begun to exhibit itself more & more and there is no disputing the fact it has got rougher to ride & seen increased downtime throughout each season. It is needed it is due to some sort of maintenance sooner rather than later. Which is why this action and step forward is a 100% positive one at that. There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing such an iconic rollercoaster obtain the love it deserves, just looks at The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The downside of this decision is the fact it will be more than likely be shut for a season whether that’s this year or next, nobody knows just yet. But a full season of no Nemesis does make me sad & does make me concerned about the typical day in the park, given Nemesis is a tremendous element of our day. When it is closed due to whatever reason we do feel the consequence on our day. Yet in the long run, it will be worth it for a smoother version of the icon herself.

I doubt any substantial modifications will emerge in regards to theming facade or surrounding area. It’ll be more than likely exclusively based upon track work and perhaps a little touch of the vehicles and station.

I cherish the idea of seeing Nemesis life pro-longed for the sake of the odd season without it but it means we’ll have her around for several more years to come. I’m hoping it gets confirmed sooner rather than later if she will continue to close this coming season.
