My escapism is based upon theme parks giving me a break from my mind I’ll be completely honest. I know this is the case for so many of us enthusiasts and the closed season is often an awful time for a lot of us.
Theme parks have become for me over the years my place to feel free of my mind and let myself go. It’s an opportunity to virtually feel “normal” again. That doesn’t happen a lot. It’s not precisely the rollercoasters that allow escapism for me, it’s an aspect but not the sole reason. It’s more or less the whole environment. It’s seen people responding to these rides for their first time, it’s hearing the laughter from other people, it’s the scents, it’s the audio that feels homely and it’s seen what the future could entail. There is so much more than just rollercoasters & rides at a theme park for me.
My escapism revolves around time with those I love so dearly & wandering around just taking in the pleasure of the parks. There isn’t anything better for me than waking up early, experimenting with my make up (sometimes I’ll admit waste of time haha) & jumping in the car putting on our travel playlist singing as we drive to a theme park. I have the best theme park company all the time anyway too which is favourable!
It’s also delightful to have those plans for the weekend especially when the week is dragging & hasn’t exactly been all that pleasant to us neither. It’s not just my way of escaping it’s also Ants. So, seeing Ant have a fab time after a rough week also fulfils me with nothing but joy & contentment.
Theme parks are everything more than just rides & attractions. There is so much to embrace that goes disregarded. Next time you are at a theme park just take 5 minutes to stand amongst the craziness of the thrills to take in the smells, sounds and people around you. I can guarantee it’ll fill you with a lot of joy by simply seeing other people having the time of their life alone.
