Let’s Talk: Overrated Dark Rides

We’ve not long ago shared our underrated dark rides blog which will be linked here if anybody wants a read. This blog will be all about those dark rides which are overhyped in our opinion. By all means we aren’t stating any facts just our views and why we think it. We hope you all enjoy we’d love to hear your thoughts below or across our socials.

Hex at Alton Towers:

Truthfully we aren’t saying we hate Hex is any sort of way as this season we’ve began to enjoy it a lot more. However we’ve heard a lot before it reopened after its year of TLC, that it was the best dark ride in the UK. Yet we rode it expecting a lot more then it was and turns out it wasn’t the best in the UK in our opinion. However we aren’t saying it’s not good at all we just find it hard to re-ride. We kind of find once you know the story it’s pretty hard to embrace it as much as your first ride. There’s no denying the story is really interesting and the theming is perfect.

DBGT at Thorpe Park:

I’m not sure whether this can even be included in this list given the fact not everybody really raves about it. For us back in 2017 was the time we were utterly in love with the ride and it was at its best. We haven’t done it yet for this season due to allergy reasons mainly and not sure if it’s even worth it. There’s no denying the way it’s done and looks is pretty impressive. Yet actually for us it’s far from the best dark ride within the UK which for how much it cost to build you’d expect it to be really. But we do understand that some people adore the ride which is completely fair enough.

The Walking Dead at Thorpe Park:

Right we’ve only rode this once and haven’t again since so our opinions may change when we visit next. But during our first visit we didn’t have the best batch of people as the exit corridor went horrendously wrong. The group in front refused to move when it came to the flaps and set the effects of prior to even going through it. Once we did go through it was completely pitch black. Other than that I had higher expectations of what I was expecting weirdly. The corridors up to the station I had expected real heavy theming and there wasn’t. I mean there’s no denying how the station looks so much better then X. The ride itself again I was expecting so much more perhaps not everything was working during our ride. I don’t want to be to negative given the fact I have to give it another ride but for now it’s overhyped for me.
