Following on from the hype train blog post I shared previously, click HERE to have a read if you haven’t already. I thought I’d discuss some of the ways I’ve learnt to avoid been too disappointed in new rides for me. By all means I still get disappointed by a few but these are some ways to help not getting hooked on believing the said ride will be godly. I hope you guys enjoy!
Open Minded:
Simply be open minded. Regardless of how it looks on POVs or off ride just remain clear minded during your first ride. There’s nothing worst then hyping something up in your mind for it to not fulfil those expectations. Of course this may also work in the opposite manner too and create a more wow factor!
Everyone Is Different:
Just because a whole heap of people love one ride it doesn’t mean you will do too. I once believed, once a ride was suitable for the big hype train that I’d love it too. Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. Accept others opinions but don’t hang on to their words as we are all different.
Avoid POVs:
I find this more or less for dark rides and those with effects. You simply could watch a POV of the best possible day for that said ride. On the day of your visit a few things could be broken which you wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t of watched that POV. I recommend steering away from these simply due to them providing expectations which may be higher then you may experience on the day. Similar to coaster POVs how it may look on your screen & how you suspect it to ride may be a different kettle of fish in person.
Expect New Rides To Not Be In Your Top 10:
We all would love for a ride to take over your current favourite at the time. I definitely do. But searching for it often leads to having this expectation which may not be fulfilled. Therefore if your heading to a new park don’t search for a new favourite. If it’s going to happen it will happen naturally.
All these tactics are something which works for me. How do you avoid disappointment and does it work for you?
