It’s become quite apparent that this is something which most rides offer. But what exactly are the pros & cons to them & how do we feel about it? Well this blog post based on our opinions and we understand others may disagree. We’d love to know your thoughts!
Of course the main important pro is we get an insight into back stories of rides and a more in depth story telling which will set the tone & ride experience. They also can be extremely impressive take The Wickerman one for example. It’s beautifully produced in a reasonable duration and offers all kinds of effects, smells and insight into the story. It’s basically added entertainment and creative way of expressing any story needing to be told. In some rides such as Phantom Manor this kind of thing is pretty essential on setting the atmosphere up for the ride in my opinion.
It’s quite simple to pin point a negative with pre shows and that’s it simply holds up the throughput of rides when it isn’t done correctly. There’s been a few times we’ve been last out of a pre show on Wickerman and had to sit on the train to the next batch of pre show gets released. It can involve a lot of faffing about and overcrowd of people in such a small space. Not to forget when you read an attraction the pre show will become stale at some stage of its life unfortunately.
For me personally I think pre shows are fab but up to a certain amount of rides. I’m quite burnt out with Wickerman one now but I’ve rode it so many times. Whereas those first riders will be blown away by how fab it is. But for me I always feel the majority of pre-shows except rides which need them, it’s too much hassle. It does slow down the throughput on so many attractions and in some cases causes a lot of issues with batching and breakdowns. I think rides should offer more on ride based pre shows in all honesty. Something along the lines of Furious Baco. Or even a separate queue for those who wish to skip but the queue not been until the batching area for the pre show.
What’s your thoughts on pre shows?
