We’ve been meaning to share this at the start of the week but just couldn’t put it together without been unhappy with it. This blog will be all about our experiences from the weekend. We hope you enjoy this blog & let us know your thoughts below or across our socials.
Opening Ceremony:
We actually didn’t know this was happening so it was more or less the right place at the right time to experience it in full. As we headed out the season pass office we noticed it was just beginning. It was a lovely touch and something different to what we’ve seen at openings before. It was a lovely touch and nice to have the atmosphere from inside on the outside of the park.
Meeting New People;
Well not quite new people but people we’ve spoken to for a little while. But the anxiety of meeting everyone was pretty scary! However those who we did manage to speak to were so lovely and really helped with the nerves.
Long Queues & Not Full Capacity On Rides:
This has to be one of the main issues experienced from across both days. Breakdowns are always something we expect in moderation of course. But given closed season has just ended meaning that all rides had just been through maintenance. We did expect the “bigger” coasters to be running at their max capacity. That was unfortunately not the case and the park was extremely busy. On Icon we noticed there was staff training so the throughput wasn’t at its best but that’s okay as everyone has to start somewhere & that can be expected too. We’re very patient with those sort of situations. Whereas elsewhere the queues weren’t the best but only 1 train across most coasters, it was inevitable. It was a shame. because if those coasters were running with 2 the queues it would of been bearable.
Lack Of Ride Count;
Yeahhhhh we had planned for a massive ride count over the two days. We’ve been to wow weekends before a couple weeks after opening though. This entire weekend we got 8 rides done that’s between two days as well. That was pretty disappointing but thankfully now were season pass holders we know we can go back as of and when we can. Even though it’s over 100 miles away…..
Broken Down Rides Everywhere!!!
The actual rides breaking down was quite frustrating to say the least and usually we are quite chill with these things. Normally we’re like “yeah rides break down it’s okay” but it come to a point we were heading to rides and almost every one of them had broken down. We brought a speedy pass and every time we checked the ride were queuing for it had broken down. Like that is really frustrating it takes a lot for us to feel that way too.
Busy Food Outlets:
The queues for the ride were bad alone but I’m unsure as to whether they were as bad as the food outlets. We waited for fish & chips for 30 minutes didn’t move an inch and simply gave up.
New Merchandise & The Park Wasn’t Ready;
The new merch that’s been released so far is stunning. We brought the entire new pin badge range because we simply couldn’t resist them whole £60s worth. The new t shirts, hoodies, jackets etc are gorgeous. This season clearly we’ll be spending a lot across the merch side of thing.
Overall we enjoyed just been back at a theme park and surrounded by such quality rides & coasters. The atmosphere of Pleasure Beach alone was great as always even if this blog may seem VERY negative. We did enjoy just been out of the house and getting on the few rides we could. To us it did seem the park perhaps wasn’t ready to open given the amount of work happening around the place & overall feeling of incompleteness. We also felt they didn’t think they were going to be as busy as they were and therefore didn’t cater enough staff / capacity on the rides for everyone if that makes sense? Either way we’ll be back again in a couple of weeks time & would suggest visiting. It’s half price wristbands and no doubt the issues listed above will only keep improving given the amount of feedback they’ve got. We will share an update after our next weekend visit.
