Trip Report | Clacton Pier – August 2025

A slightly different kind of trip report from a pier rather than a theme park. A massive thank you to the team at Clacton Pier for gifting us our wristbands for the day.

What’s Included In Your Wristbands?

A wristband includes unlimited rides, 1 go on the wheel, 1 round on the golf, 5 video game credits, 50 arcade prize tickets, 1 Jurassic pier entry but it does exclude the go karts. All of that is only £22.50 when purchasing in advance.

Indoor Attractions:

There were numerous attractions to explore inside too. There was a delightful themed adventure golf that was 18 holes and extended across two different levels and even went outdoors. It was unique to see an adventure golf with such a setup but the atmospheric vibes created throughout were brilliant. On the other side of the indoor section is bowling, and there’s also a soft play area. Jurassic Pier is a pretty major indoor attraction which is a 4D experience. The animatronics are truly something you’d never expect from a pier attraction. More often than not it’s rare you find heavily themed attractions sat on a pier but this genuinely takes those expectations and throws them away.

The Arcades:

Something I appreciated about the arcade is the fact that it was very diverse between older arcades and more modern ones. The fun card was an option but so was conventional cash too. The machines throughout again were all very varied and it just made it a more fun arcade to be experiencing.

The Rides:

We’ve been to many piers over the years but something definitely felt different to the others. The selection of rides was the perfect amount for what you’d kind of hope. There was a selection of thrill and family rides on offer. All of them seemed to be operating and with decent throughputs too. Queues are reaching no more than 10 minutes. The log flume opened slightly later and was one of those classic ones and it does get you a smidge wet (was needed given the sun)! A little bit of a headbanger but still fun nonetheless was their Looping Star. The helter skelter appears to be undergoing some work given that half of it was missing. There wasn’t much Liara could have enjoyed on the ride front unfortunately due to her height as everything is a minimum of 85cm. But it was still fun to explore the ride offering.

Is It Worth A Visit?

If you are someone who appreciates the seaside, rides, themed experiences and arcades not to forget the countless events they hold this is the place for you. The pier itself is free to enter and the choice of pay per ride is available. But the value for money for the wristband is absolutely worth it alone. We had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. It’s somewhere that offers something for everyone and that’s only the pier. There are lots of things to do away from the pier too. We even got to meet their mascot too.
