It’s been a while since we’ve visited somewhere new for us and we were kindly invited to the park by the team at Twinlakes! So, thank you to the park for having us!
Firstly, it’s worth pointing out this theme park is for families only. So, if you don’t have a little one unfortunately you can’t gain entry (understandably).
Little Ones Under 80cm:
Unfortunately, unlike other places we’ve visited there is a strict height restriction in place across the majority of family-friendly rides. Most of the height restrictions are 0.80m or 0.90m above at the absolute minimum. Liara’s only 0.76m so she wasn’t able to do any rides. But that did not impact our day at all. There’s so much more on offer for little ones to enjoy but just worth noting that rides are only accessible for those over 0.8m.
Rides:
Twinlakes delivers the ideal mix of rides from family thrills to tiny tot rides. There’s a whole heap to experience. Of course, we accumulated a cheeky +3 coaster creds whilst here. They have a big apple coaster, spinning coaster and a powered rollercoaster too. All of which are precisely what you’d expect and are fun nonetheless. There are plenty of indoor areas as I’m about to talk over below which offer rides too. I believe there’s only one indoor ride which was Davey Jones Barrel Run. This is a beautifully themed boat ride. There are many flat rides across the park including the traditional pirate ship, spinning teacups and so much more. There is something for everyone even for adults to enjoy as we found out.
Indoor Spaces:
Unlike most other UK theme parks there’s a ton of indoor fun to be had too. 2 large indoor spaces include soft plays, arcade games and even more rides for little ones. Liara thoroughly appreciated the soft play offerings. But the most vital thing to point out here is they all felt very clean. Within the indoor space, one of the buildings has a fun little mirror maze! Whereas the other one that houses the boat ride is gorgeous in terms of theming. The undersea ocean-like theming is mesmerising particularly for little ones. All the indoor spaces feel spotless & well-kept. But they also offer a place to catch some food and have a picnic too which is excellent in the heat at the moment.
Eateries:
There are plenty of eateries available with a variety of choices too. We had some cheesy chips to share from Cross Bones Cafe and they were well priced and tasted good. Nothing necessary to scream about but respectable for the price. We also ordered Liara’s jacket potato with beans here (Liara is CMPA so dairy-free) the staff were helpful with the allergies and again it was decent in portion size. For both lunches, it came to £10. When you compare the quality and pricing to other theme parks you can not complain at all.
Outdoor Waterpark:
Something we didn’t plan for was the outdoor waterpark! From afar it looked brilliant & something you don’t see very often within the UK. I guess the British weather is to blame there. But it seemed there was plenty to do and enjoy inside but also to lounge around the sides too. I believe this is an attraction that requires pre-booking so I’d suggest checking the website out to understand better how to access this.
Animals:
Somewhere we spent a lot of time amongst the animals! Most of the animals had 50p food dispensers outside their pens for guests to feed them. Unfortunately, I left our change at home else we’d lapped this up. All of them were very social and cute. But I’m someone who adores this kind of thing and so does Liara. This was the first she had gotten up close to farm animals and it was a hit, to say the least. There were donkeys, pigs, guinea pigs, goats, sheep, llamas etc. All seemed happy and well cared for too.
Overall:
Twinlakes was entirely beyond what we had expected. It’s somewhere we absolutely will be returning to especially once Liara gets that smidge bit taller. We thoroughly enjoyed our day out and it’s just an all round lovely place to visit. It feels very well maintained, the offering is exceptional and I can appreciate why it’s solely a family-based theme park. It has brilliant experiences for families very well tailored with a little bit of everything to be enjoyed. We’re very lucky to have this park only an hour away from our house. If you have younger children this is the ultimate theme park to visit. If I’m honest I have no faults to even note. Of course, we wish the height restrictions were a tad more lenient but can understand to why they aren’t. Safety is key after all.
