A year of change is what appears to be on the horizon for the 2025 season at Alton Towers. Recent months have delivered us news of loss but also more input on the brand-new ride over in Forbidden Valley. Here is all you need to know going into this fresh theme park season.
The Loss of Rides:
Losing rides regardless of why is never a fun time for anyone. I think it’s important to remember there will be reasons and all 3 rides leaving was a matter of time, to be honest.
So, the attractions include The Blade, The Alton Towers Dungeons & Flavio’s Fabulous Fandango. I’m surprised all 3 have made it this far. I don’t particularly think the mass exit of them at the same time is perhaps the correct decision. Fandango was part of the Retro Squad that arrived in 2020 to help the queues during COVID-19. The majority of those rides left after the 2022 season except for this one. The Alton Dungeons closed to home a Scarefest attraction last year. Whenever we visited it never appeared busy but more to the point it was an upcharged attraction in an already costly theme park. The Blade is the oldest ride in the park operating for 44 years. Could it possibly be avoided by spending on maintaining to last? Who knows? All 3 of these attractions will no doubt impact the upcoming season by not supporting nearby attractions with queue times. Particularly Blade given the new ride opening and recently reopened Nemesis Reborn there are two queues I suspect will continue to be big in 2025.
Welcome, Toxicator…
2025 isn’t all bad before it even begins as there’s finally a replacement for Ripsaw who left the park in 2015. With a new characteristic of storytelling in The Phalanx / Nemesis storytelling we welcome Toxicator. Watching the story of Nemesis and the Phalanx evolve in the last couple of years has been brilliant. There’s so much to be told and following along the story is amazing, especially for us enthusiasts. For all information on this new addition click HERE.
Potential Return of Rides?
So, this season is supposed to see the return of the Skyride. It was meant to return last year however the work needing to be done was a heftier job than predicted. Alton Towers with the Skyride shut makes accessibility quite challenging for families as well as disabled guests. It’s quite a vital part of providing all guests with an enjoyable and more notably pleasant time.
Improvements Following the 2024 Season?
2024 hasn’t been shy about the fact ride availability has been pretty weak. There have been rides up & down for some prolonged periods across the year. Over at The Curse was looking in a quite sorrowful condition the last time we rode it with considerable broken aspects along with repeatedly stopping throughout the ride duration. It’s too much of the perfect ride to even open with broken scenes in my opinion. Nemesis Reborn was operating on 1 train for a decent amount of time which wasn’t great. Hopefully, all the issues across the operations and assuring rides are up to standard will be rectified in time for the 2025 season.
How I Hope 2025 Looks…
2025 I hope looks bright. Hopefully, we see more year-round entertainment utilising the lawn space. More reliability on the ride front. Signs of future investments particularly surrounding replacements for the flat rides. The Curse is a more flattering light. The events receive more love, particularly Scarefest. But all in all better operations and call us captivated by what Toxicator has to deliver to the line-up. I’m sure we’ll begin hearing more on the larger project of Project Horizon & work begin over in CBeebies Land for their latest rollercoaster arrival presuming the plans get accepted.
