Given Alton Towers is a resort with multiple attractions to be explored aside from the theme park itself. Is one day truly long enough for your visit? During my earlier days of visiting this is something which I wish I had the answer to. Therefore, I hope this becomes helpful to anyone visiting for their first time!
The short answer is not really, no. You need at least two days to explore everything there is on offer. The theme park itself can be a two-day job to explore it all. That’s including the gardens, towers & Sealife. If you visit during a peak period such as the school holidays two days are needed for the theme park alone unless you purchase a fast-track bundle to ensure you get on the main rides you wish to do. Time of the year is key to answering the question properly if you’re visiting during October & November you’ll certainly need two days. During Scarefest & the fireworks, it gets extremely busy.
Moving away from the theme park there is a whole bunch of things to explore elsewhere. There is Alton Towers waterpark which is incredibly fairly priced and has so much to be explored. If you are anything like us you’ll end up spending a day alone in the Waterpark. Bear in mind I love waterparks so that may not be the same for everyone
If you book an overnight break at one of the Alton Towers hotels you will receive a free voucher for their golf course. The golf known as Extradionary Golf is themed to the park’s history & rides. Typically this can take up to an hour or two depending on the volume of other guests on the course. It also does depend on how good you are at golf too.
So, now I have explained all of the attractions to you. I would recommend at least two days to experience all that Alton Towers has to offer. It’s somewhere more than a theme park and an amazing place for the entire family to visit too.
