Our 2022 Theme Park Highlights

What a season it has been! I feel as if we’ve lived our best life this year from start to finish. So, where do we begin?

Ps – anything in bold will have the link to their specific blog posts!!

Theme Park Hotels:

I feel we’ve been ever so lucky to stay in as many theme park hotels as we possibly could. It’s something which we’ve always wanted to do & gradually one by one we’ve been ticking them off. We began this year with our first stopover in the Enchanted Village at Alton Towers which was magical. To then stop over again in their Stargazing Pods which was fun. We then managed to stay in the Deluxe room at The Big Blue hotel which was just stunning. The Shark Cabins at Thorpe Park was a lot of fun & of course, the Safari Hotel at Chessington World of Adventures. Ps, you should book a stay in one of our UK theme park hotels because they are just beautiful!

Seaside Road Trip to Adventure Island:

I truly adore seaside road trips to a theme parks. They always end up being one of my fondest memories of the year. Our little CWOA & Adventure Island road trip has been no different. It was amazing finally tick off Rage & finished all of the Gerstlauers here in the UK. For the record, this coaster is surprising. Adventure Island is a beautiful little place to visit as well, particularly in the sunshine!

Flamingo Land:

Another UK theme park we’ve been meaning to visit for years. We attended their SIK launch day which was just fantastic. They truly did spoil us. Getting to finally ride SIK was pretty epic as well. That coaster is incredible. We also found a new love for Vekoma SLCs and a hatred for motorbike launches! This park is one I wish we had nearer to home. The offering it has is just immaculate and the zoo is cute.  We love Flamingo Land so much.

Merlin Theme Park Events:

Merlin theme parks just pull it out of the bag year after year with their events. A few highlights for us this year was Carnival at Thorpe Park which was done to an epic standard. Mardi Grrra at Chessington World of Adventures just had one of the best shows we’ve ever seen the park produce and the entire event was so much fun. Oktoberfest at Alton Towers is always remarkable & never fails to fill us with so much joy & memories. We love the growth the events have had this year and hope to see it all again next season. One of my personal highlights was Sundown Spectacular at Warwick Castle. The amount of memories we’ve made through these events this year is just so special.

Halloween Season:

Spooky season is the best time of year & this year was no different, if not even better. Walsall Scare Maze completely blew it out of the water this year with one of the most fun yet terrifying scare mazes feasible. Dr Frights has been a bucket list event for us for years and finally got there and can not get over how traumatic it was. Tulleys built an entire town in the middle of their event which was mind-blowing to say the very least. Finally, got to attend Warwick Castle and had so much fun. Alton Towers pulled off possibly one of the most confusing scare experiences of my life. Xtreme Scream fully left me scarred for life after The Village. All in all Halloween season was a triumph!

Fireworks & Final Rides on Nemesis:

Considering this was a last-minute book for the day after our wedding it was the best decision we had done. To be a part of the final moments of Nemesis & able to soak up that insane atmosphere that Towers had created will be a moment we will always cherish. The fireworks were fab to watch as well. I don’t think there’ll ever be a moment quite like the one in Forbidden Valley during Nemesis’s final few hours. The team did ace it.

Overall:

2022 really has been the best year of our life’s. We have made some of the most endearing and incredible memories that even thinking back I have a massive cheesy smile on my face. Just spending time with our loved ones at these places too means the world to us. We’ve laughed, been exhausted, screamed, almost cried and cheered but it was all so worth it. I’m unsure how any other year can quite top this one but let’s give it a good go in 2023!
