Rating The UKs Scariest Rollercoasters According To Google…

There’s something quite pleasing about googling the scariest, worst etc rollercoasters in the UK. The results are so surprising from what I had in mind they would be. So, let’s get on and rank them to this title.

As always this blog post is purely for fun purposes and founded on my opinions. All ratings are based on how scary I would say they are from an open-minded perspective.

The Smiler – 9.7/10:

I can completely understand why this is listed. Aside from The Smiler’s tainted reputation over the years, it does look mean off-ride. Queuing beneath it in such proximity and having the atmospheric theming confining you is a moment of intimidation I can recall from my first ever time. On-ride I don’t feel it’s perhaps as unnerving as it looks but I am used to it now. Whenever we take on someone not used to it their reactions are always based on fear. So, I think this is a good one to be listed.

Stealth – 9.5/10:

Again off-ride it looks straightforward but scary at the speed you race up that top-hat. On-ride I think is a-lot scarier than it is off. We done the front row not long ago and genuinely it gave me that terrifying feeling again. The moment of reaching the peak height with your bum just floating mid-air it’s insane.

Wicker Man – 4/10:

I’m not entirely sure about this been on the list. Yes, I’m aware to a lot of people wooden rollercoasters are quite daunting due to them having that stigma of been the thing of the past & old. But I can’t quite see how Wicker Man can be the scariest rollercoaster when there’s things like Mumbo Jumbo existing. If this was from a child’s perspective or someone who isn’t exactly fond of rollercoasters then maybe. After all it is an airtime machine. But are we just classing it to be one of the scariest due to that typical mindset revolving around wooden rollercoasters?

Colossus – 5/10

To me, Colossus is not all that scary. However, the quantity of inversions can be enough to warrant for people to feel it is terrifying. Not to ignore the fact that actually Colossus is quite high too. Giving it an 5 out of 10 purely because I don’t feel it’s all that scary to me.

The Big One – 10/10

The UKs tallest rollercoaster, of course it’s the scariest. That first drop is petrifying given it looks like your plunging into the sea before that drastic halt to the side. If I’m honest the scariest part of this is the turn around section. I wish for that part to be over so quickly it’s unreal.

Dragons Fury – 3/10

Yeah Dragons Fury isn’t remotely scary. For younger people maybe. But it spins really fast when your sat backwards up the lift however it’s just not scary or at least that’s the case for me.
