Trip Report | Wicksteed Park June 2019

Unfortunately for us we visited on a day of bad rain which therefore led to majority of the rides been closed. However we experienced a handful of rides and enough to put together a brief blog. We are planning our next trip to be on a hotter day for a more in depth review with photos too. Either way we hope you enjoy this blog and feel free to let us know your thoughts on Wicksteed.

First Impression / Parking / Entrance:

Once turning into the car park the lack of rides you can and amount of fields made us feel bit confused. You come to barriers where you collect your parking ticket to get in & out. It was easy to find a parking space as there’s plenty of them. The entrance is a little strange as there kinda isn’t one. It’s like a field with loads of different things like Goats, Meerkats etc. Parking all day cost £6 and under depending on your duration of your trip. However if you purchase your ticket for a few hours you do receive a set time to leave.

Free Entry & Wristband & Ride Tickets:

Entry is of course free but to experience the rides & attractions you need to purchase either a wristband which offers unlimited amount of rides, or you can purchase ride tickets for the selection of rides you wish to do. The ride wristband works the same as places like GT Yarmouth Pleasure Beach. You don’t have to scan just show the staff members then your allowed on the ride. It’s easier and quicker if you pre purchase online as during our visit there was a queue to buy on the day. There’s a small saving between online to on the day prices but only around £1-£2 saving.

Variety Of Rides / Navigating Your Way Around / Safety.

To our surprise there was a real decent amount of ride offering available for all ages. There’s 3 coasters in total none of which were open during our visit unsure as to why but it was pouring it down with rain. The log flume is real fab and was a lot of fun but then again isn’t every log flume? One thing which surprised us was the Go Karts been included in the wristband as usually they are an up charge elsewhere. There definitely is plenty to do and explore with the chance to explore outside of the “theme park”.

We did in fact get lost when trying to find the rest of the park maybe were little dumb or it’s a common thing to happen? However we ended up walking the full circuit of the park to find the dodgems and that little area. If you’ve never been before it’s probably best to pick up a map!

Safety is very in your face within the park with almost every ride such as the dodgems, monorail etc having seat belts. Even adults have to wear them which is of course great that safety is that important to them.

Staff & Cleanliness:

Every staff member we encountered were so lovely. The park was extremely clean and well kept. Even though some rides looked the little bit aged which you kinda get in a lot of places though.

Food Outlets:

Just before leaving Tomas picked up some chips from the fish & chips the quality was gorgeous. However the wait was literally insane and something we haven’t experienced elsewhere. It took over 20 minutes for a box of chips however a family ordered after us and got their food faster. Due to the insane wait time for those chips the rush to the car was pretty crazy as our time was running out.

Overall Thoughts:

It’s definitely very different in comparison to other amusement / theme parks we’ve visited as it’s literally in a field. One thing we hope to do next time we visit is take our dogs with us as it’s dog friendly & fab dog walking place. It’s a cheap day out and definitely worth the price but wouldn’t be worth anymore then the £13 online. Due to shit weather conditions we didn’t spend the full day nor did we have chance to experience everything we had wanted to do mainly due to a lot been closed.

The Water Chute is apparently undergoing refurbishment at the moment as well so if your wanting to experience it, we’d recommend contacting the park prior to your visit. Other than that it’s a real adorable place to visit and have a fair amount on offer. The rowing boats are a lot of fun. We’d definitely recommend checking it out if your in the area or live locally.

We hope you guys enjoyed this blog & thank you for reading. We will of course share an updated version to the blog as soon as we do our return visit.
