It feels so good to simply be able to sit and write this post and share it with you guys. If I’m honest it feels as if it’s been forever since I wrote out a trip report, I have kinda forgotten how to do this style of blog post haha! Anyway, before I keep rambling on let’s have a chat about how opening day went down!
Entering The Park/Monorail:
First thing this morning the monorail was closed but testing. Getting into the park was exactly the same as it has been last year. A lot more clearer signage and what felt like more staff to guide the situation too. The walk to the park was crowded as you would expect it to be in a sense.
Retro Squad:
The latest arrivals in the Alton Towers line up and I must say some of the most modern-looking ‘fairground rides’ I have ever seen. Over in X Sector, you have mixtape which is very vibrant and was really popular amongst guest this morning the queue extended all the way past Oblivions entrance. Dark Forest is home to Roller Disco which again it doesn’t quite fit into Dark Forest but it is so tucked away that it’s not exactly an issue. But these are some of the best looking Waltzers I have ever seen they don’t look all that temporary. Funk’n’Ride is located in Forbidden Valley on the former Ripsaw site. This is the brightest out of the pack of rides but suits the retro theme really well. If I’m honest I was almost taken back by how well these flat rides went down the queues was always fairly long for them throughout the day, especially when both B&M coasters were down in Forbidden Valley.
New Merch:
I am so in love with the new merchandise that’s on offer in Towers Trading. There is a wide range of pin badges available to purchase as well as a new duvet cover for The Smiler, t-shirts, hoodies and even some throwback t-shirts for past rides.
Overall:
The park was busy almost a tad busier than expected but it felt so nice to see the place thriving. We didn’t manage to get on many rides but really enjoyed just walking around looking at the changes for this season and also just being outdoors again! The Smiler was riding beautifully today and felt insanely smooth. As did Rita, she was riding like a dream today. There was some downtime across Galactica, Nemesis, Wickerman etc. But Nemesis didn’t open once today which was sad as we hoped to get on it first thing this morning. The rapids don’t have their waterfalls back on but do have theming where the waterfalls used to be. Overall it was so nice to be back amongst the rides again and we had a fab day even if we didn’t stay to close or get on everything we had hoped to get on.
Where did you visit today? I’d love to hear all about your trips!
