I actually remember when I first acknowledge being an enthusiast the rumours were by time Vampire turns 30 it will no longer be operating. But here we are today celebrating it’s 30th of course not particularly the way we would had liked. But even so let’s talk all about this adorable rollercoaster. Be sure to share with us your memories & photos across our social media’s as we would love to see them.
Our first time riding Vampire was back in 2016 and this had been a bucket list park for a while for me. Ant had already visited as a child but was too small to ride Vampire. Whereas I’ve always heard nothing but incredible things about Chessington but my mum couldn’t drive and my father had left money was tight, so it was almost impossible to get down there at that time. But back in 2016 we’ve just brought our merlin annual passes for the first time and it got announced that Bubbleworks was closing it’s doors. This was a ride I’ve heard so much about as well. So we of course headed to have my first and Ants final ride. Next door was this rather familiar looking rollercoaster (Invert) but it swung and I had never seen anything quite like it.
My first ride on Vampire was rather mind blowing like I had never experienced a coaster which swung before. But I remember coming off and just thinking awww. There’s something so adorable about this ride. Yet it still can be quite thrilling especially after the second lift hill. The way it swings around those buildings is pretty immense. The theming was another thing which had taken me back because at this time we never visited half as many parks as we have now. So the fact there was so much heavy theming within the station was something which we weren’t used to. I always found this experience rather confusing as some sections do feel thrilling yet it’s aimed for a family audience.
We both adore Vampire so much. It’s a rollercoaster which offers so much fun and pops of thrills. I find the theming some of the best amongst the UK and even more so from the videos I’ve seen from the small time the park opened this season. It’s a rollercoaster which I struggle to get enough of whilst on park, I could re-ride all day. Something which I’m yet to do is experience a night ride during their Halloween event. Hopefully this will be the year if the current situation blows over. But we love Vampire and can’t wait to head back to Chessington to celebrate it’s 30th by having many rides! So a big happy birthday to the lovely Vampire and we hope it’s not too far away until we can get back in Chessington to celebrate.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog & seen some of our on ride photos. Be sure to come over to our social media to keep spreading love for Vampire with your memories & photos. We can’t wait to see / read your comments.
