Those who are a little more fond of theme parks are often referred to as “theme park enthusiast”. I’ve popped together a full post on “what is a theme park enthusiast” so I’ll leave it linked HERE. But today I thought I’d discuss whether you need to be fond of rollercoasters to class yourself as an enthusiast.
My intentional answer is no. I feel my younger self was definitely a enthusiast without knowing what one was. My first theme park love was in fact Pirates Adventure at Drayton Manor that used to be the dark boat ride. Therefore that’s why I am here today writing this. There’s definitely no guidelines on being a theme park enthusiast. We legit are just normal people who are a little more fond on theme parks.
I would class Ants brother as a enthusiast. He’s not remotely fond of rollercoasters well at least no thrill ones. But loves to know the history of the parks, loves visiting and just having that extra interest then the usual guest would. So I’d definitely say it’s okay to not enjoy rollercoasters but also think of yourself as an enthusiast. Don’t feel pressured that you need a huge “cred count” because that is pretty irrelevant. It’s all about what you love & feel comfortable on doing.
Of course to the majority of enthusiast, rollercoasters are simply the bees knees. But for us it’s definitely more of an overall experience, theming, relaxing & level of enjoyment. Our favourite ride of all time including rollercoasters we’ve done is Hollywood Tower Hotel of Terror at Disneyland Paris I think that says it all. Our all-time list is made up of 3 dark rides as our top 3.
Be proud of what you love & do not feel as if you must fit in by following others views & passions. Let us know what you love the most that makes you class yourself as an enthusiast!
