The UK rollercoaster removal nobody will forget…
Of course I am talking about the much loved and missed rollercoaster which was known as Wild Mouse and located at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Thrilling riders for almost 60 years had been removed with little to no information said about it until a few days after the discovery. It was an odd day and one which no doubt we will all remember.

Just in case your new and not sure what I am even talking about. Wild Mouse was a wooden rollercoaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It stood for several years and was much loved by many. However one day we all opened social media to see an image of the site and the Wild Mouse had been demolished. The park didn’t make an official announcement until a few days/weeks later. That’s the day nobody will forget and the rollercoaster which will forever be spoken about. Let’s take a look back at this rollercoaster and finally I’m going to share my thoughts on it!

Okay, Wild Mouse was definitely not my favourite rollercoaster at Pleasure Beach for sure. But it also wasn’t my least neither. It was one of the only rollercoaster’s left in the UK which had me terrified still. The sharp bends and very sudden drops all added up to reasons this coaster was pretty terrifying. One of my final rides was one of the most brutal. I legit thought I was going to die (maybe that’s a tad dramatic). I started the ride cycle sat up between Ants legs and hit the brake run basically lying down. It was an insane ride experience and one of which will forever stick with me.
I also remember my first ever ride on this coaster too. 8 years prior to my last ride funny enough. I was with my family and thought I was dead brave and rode this with my mum. Honestly we were both terrified afterwards. I remember thinking we were going to fling off the edge whilst taking those harsh corners. It was a terrifying rollercoaster and the scariest in the UK in my opinion. Yet that added to the charm of it. It always felt so authentic and special knowing how unique and intense it was.

One thing I do miss is watching other people’s faces whilst riding. It was always a funny experience as so many didn’t know how to take it. Whereas others simply adored the ride so much. Sadly I was one of the few which didn’t necessarily enjoy the ride experience as such but definitely miss it standing. I found the coaster to be opposite to what I enjoy and that coaster type as a whole isn’t one I enjoy whether that be steel or wooden. However I can see how & why so many of you miss this ride.
It was a sad day when we all discovered it’s demolishment. One of which I don’t think will ever be forgotten anytime soon. It’s now the 3rd season without it and I’m sure many will continue to miss it. But for us we hope the future looks bright for the area & site.
Do you miss Wild Mouse?
