On Sunday we headed to Wheelgate for our first visit and a massive thank you to the team for having us! So, let’s have a chat about this very adorable little park!
First Impressions:
Honestly, I hadn’t heard of this theme park before talking with the team at Twinlakes. Once we arrived it was very evident that this is a smaller compact theme park that packs plenty of charisma into its space. It’s a very tidy, neat and has a lot for younger families to appreciate. It’s more than your standard theme park which seems to be the recurring pattern across even sister park Twinlakes. First impressions were welcoming.
Attractions & Rides:
There’s not a massive amount of rides. However, this park doesn’t need a great number of rides at all. It has a lovely mixture of indoor soft plays, animals and other attractions to enjoy. There are lots of play areas for the children, and the outdoor ones are beautifully themed too. There is a small rollercoaster. Unfortunately, during our visit, the carousel was down which was the only ride-based thing Liara could enjoy.
The indoor soft plays again like Twinlakes felt incredibly clean and cared for. We even spotted in the indoor areas like creative spaces for children to do arts and crafts. Some of the larger soft play/play areas were HUGE with so much to do and explore. The variety of indoor and outdoor options is absolutely excellent especially given the wonderful British weather & uncertainty of it.
Waterpark:
The outdoor waterpark looks incredible. It’s a fair size with lots of things for everyone to enjoy. We didn’t opt to explore this area too much but from the sidelines, it looks brilliant and again if we visit in the future we’ll be carrying along our swim stuff too.
Entertainment:
We caught peeks of the entertainment including a small princess/hero spot. The characters were tremendous there was Rapunzel, Belle and Captain America. We saw a few minutes of them singing Disney songs with their audience and part of their meet & greet. Upon entering the park there was some entertainment happening on the plaza too. The sheet we were provided with the timings was crammed with various slots of entertainment. It’s something not all parks offer anymore but it’s these little characteristics that make parks enjoyable in my opinion.
The Animals:
There were more animals than we expected & all of which looked well cared for and it’s just lovely to have little farm sections. Especially, now Liaras is more aware that she enjoys looking at the animals a little gone out because they are funny-looking dogs after all! There weren’t as many feeding opportunities as Twinlakes not too sure but that’s the main noticeable thing!
Overall:
This was a really charming little park with plenty for the family to do. I’d say perhaps it’s aimed at slightly older children than Liara or perhaps more mobile toddlers. Nonetheless, we had an absolutely lovely day and Liara relished the bits she could do. Come next season and I imagine Liara will definitely embrace the offering even more. It’s somewhere we will be heading back to in the near future and one that families absolutely need to check out!
