Guide To Visiting Alton Towers Firework Event…

It’s almost that time again when Alton Towers light up the sky and the season comes to an end. Hasn’t this year flown by? But I thought as someone who usually visits regularly for their fireworks let’s have a chat about some advice for your visit.

Be Prepared:

Fireworks days are often very busy. You’ll be having high crowd levels pretty much the entire day across all areas of the park, particularly the rides. Be ready to queue or to purchase fast tracks. Car parking will be busy as well you are more than likely going to park on their extended grass car park if you don’t arrive earlier. Food outlets during the regular peak times for lunch will also be crazy. So, prepare for this and that way you may find it more bearable to cope with. The opening hours are delightful & lengthy for these days and the park stays open past the time of the fireworks ending which is very convenient to ensure you get the most for your money. There will be additional food outlets dispersed near or on the lawns which also helps.

Pack For The Weather:

It’s Britain you never know what the weather be like even after glancing at the forecast. So, pack accordingly to prepare for the rain or cold. Ensuring you have comfortable shoes on is key as standing waiting for the fireworks can be freezing on your feet. Pack an umbrella or poncho too.

Find A Spot:

Arriving at the lawns with around half an hour to spare before the fireworks begin is reasonable in my opinion. We’ve done it before where we lingered for over an hour and ended up really chilly & quite miserable. The fireworks are in the sky so your spot doesn’t necessarily matter unless you want to see the Towers themselves. There are often screens with the story dotted around the lawns anyway making it easier for everyone to watch and see.

Wait On The Lawns:

Post-fireworks don’t rush off for your next ride or to exit. You’ll only end up in a dreadful squeeze of humans. It’s very topsy-turvy if you flee immediately unless you’re near the edges to get a clearer run for where you want to head next. Personally, stand aside let everyone else go then go once it becomes less congested and overwhelming.

Don’t Leave The Car Park Immediately After:

Something I really would urge against is heading to your car straight away. You won’t exit the car park for a fair bit of time and that time spent sitting in the traffic could be used to make the most of the park whilst it’s quieter than it was that day. Head over to Gloomy Wood or Dark Forest and grab a few night rides. After all, we in the UK don’t tend to get this chance all that often. The park stays open until 9 more often than not the fireworks are done at 7:30. If you stay too close and join a queue just before 9 you’ll pretty much get out of the car park with some speed.

That’s some of the biggest tips I’d personally recommend to anyone heading to see the fireworks.

Hope you all have a fab time! X
