As first-time parents we underestimated how much we’d actually get given to us once Liara arrived. We have a Kia Sportage and that’s not a remotely small car by any means it was full to the brim of gifts every seat free had bags on! You’ll be surprised how truly appreciative you are of the sheer love shown. So, here is a gift guide of some of the most beneficial things to buy new parents for their baby!
Bath Accessories:
We ended up being gifted hooded towels, cotton wool, bath stuff, and bath toys! The works and truthfully it was all an absolute godsend. We underestimated how many hooded towels we truly needed and cotton wool you never can get enough of! Simply putting a bath time hamper together can really go far! Of course, ask the parents if there’s any specific brand to avoid as we know Ants allergic to Dove so we aren’t tempting it with Liara.
Clothes In Different Sizes:
Something again which has been incredible is acquiring clothes but in all different sizes! Trust me you’ll collect an overwhelming bunch of clothes but when they are different in sizes you really don’t mind! Just knowing there are some items for Liara to grow into has made transitioning upwards so much easier.
Muslin & Bibs:
There’s never too many of either of these things. Again, we were lucky to have a whole heap as gifts. They may not seem relevant to most but trust me you need an unlimited supply for both.
Nappies / Wipes & Bags:
I don’t think any new parent can begin to imagine just how many packets of the above you go through. It’s very surprising. Having the gift of all three of these things is one of the most valuable things to ever be gifted. It helps to relieve the pressure of those first few weeks when you may end up running out of things but not desiring to go outside just yet. After all, as the mum you may still be healing and we all recover so differently so thinking forward like this really does lend a helping hand.
Formula Tins:
Another thinking ahead moment is just asking the parents what tins of formula they’d like in the house as a backup. It’s all about making those first few weeks as manageable as possible and this is something that will go the mile.
Ask The Parents:
Simply ask the parents if there’s anything specific they’d like to be stocked up on or need. This helped us out a lot as it helped to deter duplicates on bigger items although that did still happen but didn’t happen as badly as it could have.
