What’s Going On With Blackpool Pleasure Beach?

Blackpool Pleasure Beach or as it’s now known I believe as Pleasure Beach Resort but then I’ve also seen it’s referred to as Pleasure Beach Lancashire. I guess the identity crisis is an example of what’s going on.

But really, what is actually going on? The park has undergone some rebranding in a form that’s not too consistent with what they wish to be known by. I’m all here for a change and I think occasionally parks do really need that to happen especially when the future looks a trace different and there are evolutions on the horizon like Thorpe Park. That branding transition suits the new era they are about to embark on. But what do we actually know Pleasure Beach as now? Because I am confused. It’s a shame it’s not been a transparent rebrand and name change but it’s become something more complex and puzzling for guests to comprehend.

Over on the ride front, well, where do we actually start? Grand Prix sitting SBNO before its replacement has even been decided seems a strange decision in my opinion. You’d like to think they’d want to max the capacity of the park and keep it running until the forthcoming plans have been set in stone and confirmed. I mean it’s so exciting to know there’s something new and we all know Pleasure Beach max out their space so beautifully. Just look at Icon. But this is a family classic that does pull the crowds, particularly during the summer months. So, keeping it SBNO is interesting. Towards the front of the park and looking over at Ice Blast (PlayStation sorry ). What’s the crack there? The photos I’ve seen absolutely display this ride look more than ready to be removed. However, we aren’t experts & it’s been said they are awaiting parts to get it functional again for later in the season. So, I guess that’s what we go by although I think it would be a fab idea for something fresh here especially given Valhalla is looking so revivified next door.

Yet from another perspective from the ride’s point of view, the ongoing upkeep and changes that happen to the Ghost Train illustrate how well the park can sustain them. Other dark rides nearby like River Caves have been longing for some TLC for some time now. After all, it’s a classic and a ride that doesn’t deserve to leave the park anytime soon. A year shut for a significant bit of love would be the best option but I’m not completely sure whether that’ll happen. I think the rides across the park have radiant futures they just need that excess love sometimes.

I guess Pleasure Beach almost feels a tad lost in its identity & future. I love the park wholeheartedly. However, from an outsider & guest point of view, it appears a tad chaotic at the moment. I’m optimistic this vibe will be amended soon. But I also do reckon they possibly shouldn’t have opened their gates until a tad later in March to allow more room to get prepared for the season ahead. There are some debatable decisions happening at the moment but I’m sure in the future it’ll all make sense once again. I do think guests merit a tad more respect than given across social media at the minute. But that’s a whole additional topic for another day.
