Oktoberfest at Alton Towers Resort 2023

Oktoberfest is one of my favourite events that happens across the parks in the UK. It’s the beginning of Autumn in my eyes and the most feel-good event there is. So, we visited Alton Towers last Friday to check out their 2023 offering for this event!

Opening Hours:

We visited on an off-peak weekday and the opening times were ace. Park opening at 10 and closing at 6 pm to me that’s reasonable opening times. I do wish it was a tad longer on a Saturday perhaps 7 p.m. close but no doubt there are reasons why this is the case. However, even though the park closes at 6pm the last show of the day isn’t until half 6!

Decor:

The lawns were equipped with some beautiful photo opportunities as well as many more seating options & decor. There’s a little area with seating under covers, fire pits a small bar and your typical long set-out benches but this year with umbrellas too. There are bunting & wreaths dotted around the entire of Tower Street & Mutiny Bay.

Food Stalls:

I believe it’s the same food stalls as last season that have returned with an extra bar on the lawns these stalls don’t allow any discount with Annual Passes. You have your traditional bratwurst (which was delicious) priced £9 with the option for £1 extra and for ghost chilli one. You’ve got fries stall, sweet stall, hog roast etc. Whilst we were there we tried the Bratwurst which was gorgeous and a Pretzel (£3.50) which was disappointing. Of course, you got the bar stalls which include the new larger for this event called Laugh & Scream Larger which is priced £7 a pint or £3.60 for half a pint. If you’re drinking on the lawns as mentioned above there’s no discount but over in the courtyard you can get a discount.

Entertainment:

Same as last year there are two sets of entertainment happening. One lot is located in the Bierkeller in the Courtyard this includes Oompah Show, Gitarrenpatei & Oktoberfest Singalong Shindig. Whilst over at the lawns there’s around 4/5 shows to catch! These shows include Le Beat Party Band, Lebhaft Tanzen Show, Darwin Show & The Oomparty Band. All of these shows combine the Oktoberfest vibe and allow all guests to join in! As well as the shows to watch there are also roaming characters dotted around that really do make a difference to the atmosphere!

Overall:

Oktoberfest is always a powerful event in my opinion. There’s always endless tremendous entertainment to catch with so many talented performers. The additional food stalls with the more conventional items for Oktoberfest as well as the beers at the bar are just brilliant. It’s impossible to visit Oktoberfest and not feel upbeat & happy. I noticed that all the staff were in uniform near the Oktoberfest area which is a lovely little touch. The decorating of the lawns looked amazing this year I really liked the additional touches! Even as someone who’s not drinking it’s hard to not get swooped into the atmosphere! This event demonstrates perfectly what Towers are capable of putting on and what we need more of!
