30 Years of Disneyland Paris – My Happy Place…

Of course, I’m too young to remember the opening of this park. However, over the years this has become such a special place for me and I honestly tear up a lot when it comes down to anything associated with DLP. Let’s celebrate their 30th together and have a chat about this magical destination!

The Magic:

There’s not quite a feeling like it when you step out from underneath the train station and head down Main Street towards the stunning Castle. Oh goodness me, that thought makes me emotional. It’s really hard to not feel the emotions overload your body within that moment. The sounds, smells & sights are all so special. There’s this sense of happiness when you walk from area to area and you spot those characters who you are so familiar with and at that moment you can’t help but just feel a sense of astonishment they are before you.

It is the happiest place on earth. As you enter those gates every last worry and stress is truly left behind. The sense of freedom, escapism, happiness and a moment to feel like your younger self again, it’s all just so magical. Watching your favourite characters pass by on their float during the parade or standing in front of the castle watching scenes from truly iconic movies alongside having the audio blast through your ears during the illuminations. There really isn’t a sentiment like it. It’s a universe that is impossible to not get lost within

The Rides:

The magic persists throughout each & every ride. They all have their speciality and quirkiness. Whether you’re flying with Dumbo or launching to space on Hyperspace Mountain you are gleaming with satisfaction. It’s an outstanding feeling to ride something which you have heard so much fanfare about and more greatly when you’re on a journey with those well-known characters it is something extraordinary. I have always found myself to have such unusual relationships with a distinctive few rides that whenever I heard their audio during the peak of the pandemic when unfortunately we had to cancel 2/3 of trips it coaxed me to tears. I don’t have that connection with any other rides from any other theme parks I have visited. They are incredibly special.

My Personal Memories:

Disneyland Paris holds the ticket to a lot of memories for me. My first ever rollercoaster was Big Thunder Mountain which is absurd as it’s one of my all-time favourites now! I also got to experience my first-ever dark ride, a trackless dark ride and just about everything a little 4 year old could ride.

A more current and even more personal memory for me was getting engaged to my teenage sweetheart. This was the period this became my happiest place. It made that original connection become an emotional connection one that I’ll never forget. The love I feel for Ant and this place is beyond words. It’s about to become even more special to us both as we have secured our honeymoon here too.

The Future:

Goodness, isn’t the future looking bright? There’s so much in the pipeline, particularly for the second park but even so, it’ll only strengthen the overall experience of DLP. I’m so excited to see what is coming in person once all is built. The recent work on the castle has made it come to life all over again and I’m so delighted to see that in person. Of course, in recent years we’ve seen a lot of modifications but now things are getting back to the ordinary the beautiful illuminations have returned with additional characteristics of the drones. There’s the 30th anniversary day time show as well. It all is looking amazing for this park just as it merits and after the early start, it had you’d never of imagined that now. Here’s to the next 30 years!!
