It has been 6 years since the ride operated for its final time and the building has been used once before for a couple of seasons of Scarefest. It has sat out of use since 2019 and has had recent activity going on around the building, leading to further speculation as to what does the future hold for this SBNO attraction? This is what I am here for today and will be discussing as I’m intrigued as much as you are.
Disclaimer: I know nothing and this entire blog post is purely based upon my opinions & ambitions for this attraction.
Will Sub Terra Open Again Under The Same Theme & Experience?
I highly doubt this likelihood in all honesty. I feel the days of Sub Terra are long gone or at least under their previous form. I’m oblivious as to what is left inside from before but I just can’t see them heading down that route of it being similar. It’s been sat non-existent for too long for people to feel the same hype they once felt when it first opened almost 10 years ago, rectify me if I’m wrong?
A Simple Refurbishment:
A simple refurbishment and re-opening but with a transformation in the story to keep the attraction high, I think is a likely chance. I can’t see them re-theming this facility to a whole new story given how well known and loved it was for the relations between itself & Nemesis. An overhaul could work beautifully and enable keep that section of Forbidden Valley all Nemesis oriented and fresh.
A Filler For Nemesis:
Rumours are persistently floating amongst many that Nemesis will close for a year’s re-track. Therefore, could we see this attraction open as a filler to help support those queues whilst Nemesis is down, even used as a marketing strategy for when the ride reopens? This is something I’d love to see perhaps incorporate the closure of Nemesis into the storyline to help keep people keen and invested in what is next for the ride. I’ve always cared for this idea as it could be beneficial and a tremendous method of marketing.
Another Scare Maze:
The more likely scenario is we’ll see this building back in use for the 2021 Scarefest season. It’s the perfect location for hosting a scare maze and it’s not all that often we see scare mazes within that area of the park. It could assist spread out the queues during the busier period and also draw attention to the building once again if future development outside of Scarefest is about to take place. I loved the likes of Project 42 and thought it was a quality maze at that, so I’d be fascinated as to what theme they opt for if this is the case.
