Back in January we contacted the lovely Rachel from Pleasurewood Hills PR team. A massive thank you Andrew the Marketing & Sales manager along with the general manager for participating. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity and appreciate their time. We hope you guys enjoy and you get a lovely insight into what goes on at Pleasurewood Hills located at Lowestoft.
What can we expect for this season?
The new season saw the arrival the new attraction, the Egg-Spress that sits in the place of the legendary Rattlesnake. we are all very excited. The sea lion and parrot shows will make a return along with the much loved high dive spectacular as well as the rides we all love including Marble Madness, Timber Falls and East Anglia’s tallest roller coaster thrill ride, Wipeout.
Last year we saw the High Dive Show will there be any similar featuring shows during this season?
The High Dive show was a real hit with our visitors last year. We’re pleased to say that we can confirm a high dive show will make a return to the park during July and August. Last year’s team wowed us with some spectacular stunts so we can’t wait to see what this season’s show will bring.
Within the closed season can you describe some of the maintenance work which goes into Wipeout?
We carry out a lot of work on Wipeout over the closed months. There is a complete strip down of the train, parts are replaced and painted, tests are done on the train and the track and all the hydraulics and breaks are serviced plus much more.
What can Pleasurewood hills offer that other surrounding attractions can’t?
Pleasurewood Hills has attractions that fun-lovers travel for miles to see and experience. Our legendary seal and parrot shows have wowed families for generations and continue to be firm favourites today. The much loved Rattlesnake rollercoaster that thrilled families for generations has been resurrected and reincarnated into the Egg-Spress. We have the tallest rollercoaster thrill ride in the East of England, Wipeout, the very last Vekoma Boomerang in the UK, as well as a one-of-a-kind rollercoaster The Cannonball Express.
How does ageing rides compare to newer in regards to maintenance and upkeep?
Rides that have been here for some time still remain some of the most popular. With regards to upkeep, we take care and attention to all our rides so be they old or new, they get equal amounts of tender loving care.
From a parks perspective what is the most popular ride / attraction?
That’s a good question. The great thing about Pleasurewood Hills is that we all have such amazing memories. Those who visited as children in the earlier years some are now parents themselves, bringing their children to share the experiences they once had. Our sea lions are without a doubt very popular and always get a good reception. We love them dearly and the visitors do too.
With our rides, all offer their own unique experience. The Pirate Ship has been here since the early days and is still going strong. For the thrill seekers, Wipeout is the coaster of choice. All our attractions have their own special character and all together if offers the making of a truly special day out for our customers, which has been instrumental in the success of Pleasurewood Hills throughout the years.
General Manager;
As the new general manager where do you want to take the park?
I have a real love for Pleasurewood Hills and have fond memories from my childhood when I used to visit the park. Pleasurewood Hills has been open for almost 40 years and I want to help to make sure that the park continues to develop so that it remains a key tourist attraction for families to enjoy for many years to come.
We have a great team on board who are all passionate about taking the park forward into the future. We will continue to offer a great day out at excellent value, and over the coming seasons will continue to grow. We are also passionate about the planet, so we will be making new additions to our park with recycling points, and don’t expect to see single-use plastic on the park, it’s our mission to contribute to a cleaner, greener world.
Are they any plans to close or remove any rides in the 2019 season?
There are no plans to remove any attractions for the 2019 season and this winter we have been making an investment in some of our other key rides. The great news is more is being done to the rides, such as the Shiver M’ Timbers better known to many as the Pirate Ship, has had a full strip down and works carried out. The Balloons and some of the other kiddies rights are getting a full makeover ahead of the new season.
The Cannonball Express will be running this year but will unfortunately be closed during the opening. We are looking at around early May for the opening for this ride. The great thing about the coaster is that it’s a one of a kind. No where else in the world would experience it.
What are the greatest challenges on a day to day basis within your new role?
There is a great deal to do and there really is no such thing as a quiet day. We often hear from friends that when we’re closed, say for the winter months, we get asked ‘what do we do’. The truth is there is so much planning, organising and preparation that goes on behind the scenes. From the park operations, to the marketing and the catering it is a massive task.
Is there any insight you can share on the new attraction teased across your social media?
Yes the new ride is the Egg-Spress, our new addition rollercoaster at the lake end of the part. The ride will be replacing the legendary Rattlesnake, which thrilled many families over the years, and is a staple attraction in the East of England and the roller coaster world. We are Egg-cited about our new ride which has been fully themed with a brand new station and carts, featuring life size figures for the Egg-xtra experience. The track has been completed
Lastly what’s your favourite ride or attraction at Pleasurewood Hills and why?
I’m not sure I can pick just one thing! I’m a bit of a theme park nerd so love all of the rides of course but I also have a soft spot for the animals and birds as they are all such beautiful creatures.
Once again a massive thank you to the incredible team for participating in this special blog. We hope you’ve all enjoyed and a massive thank you to for reading. In the upcoming few months we’re hoping to visit & share a review from the incredible looking egg-spress coaster.
