Halloween has been over for a couple of months yet, I haven’t managed to shake off my love for Creepy Caves Resurgence. I’ll admit I’ve always loved Creepy Caves with its previous route but the Resurgence path just hit differently. Well let’s dive in & have a chat about this maze which lives rent-free in my mind.
I’ll start with the fact I’ve been doing Creepy Caves since 2018 which means 3 seasons. I loved the old route which I found it terrifying during my first run through and alright during the second. I ain’t someone who is massively keen on stopping throughout a maze to hear a story. I quite like those attractions where you stop in the first room for a bit of backstory & scene setting then the rest is a steady pace of encountering scares. But with Creepy Caves I’ve always found the actors were top quality throughout but even more so once you headed into the maze section. It still is the only maze to make me cry as an adult back in 2018. I was a sobbing mess by time I reached the finale. It was such a small group that went through which made it far too easy for the actors to split us up. But I do have this maze to thank for getting me into the more intense mazes I love now. However for me the Unearthed version was fab at all cost but just not the 2020 version.
So Resurgence where do I begin? I was highly sceptical when it was announced you’d experience the maze backwards & it had changed. Change is something which can either make or break any attraction luckily it made this maze in my opinion. So entering into the room you once exited out of instantly made my heart flutter, that room was traumatic AF. But the initial storytelling was fab as always the actors are lush in this maze. Admittedly I weren’t even confident I could make it through the first room I’ve got some serious scars from the 2018 run through I had.
But once your into the maze the scares just come thick & fast. They pop up from all over the place & genuinely I had the driest mouth and throat after this maze from the amount of death screams I let out in there. The visual theming is easily the best I’ve ever seen it. I loved how they incorporated past theming into the maze. The lighting, audio and actors were top quality. For me the finale was a massive stand out. Just how unique it felt to every other finale we did during the 2020 Halloween season. I was mesmerised by what I was watching. Yet I still came out trembling like a leaf as it’s always so brutal.
You head into this maze with the expectations of something similar to House of Monsters which used to be at Alton Towers. But it’s so deceiving how intense it actually is. It’s something I can’t ever shake off is the pure shock of intense the maze is yet it’s aged for 10+. It was my mums first ever time experiencing this maze and it’s all I ever hear about every time we face time each other now haha.
Creepy Caves has to be easily in the top 5 best UK scare mazes. The entire the package is so well produced in such a manner where you have the perfect mixture of scares yet amazement by what’s around you. I think it’s incredible and is the PERFECT scare maze maybe not for younger children who aren’t all that brave. But as an adult I couldn’t think of a better scare maze to end each Halloween season on in all honesty. Also how I have gone this entire post without mentioning the way it was adapted for COVID safety? I think that shows how safe I felt throughout and it was not all that noticeable at all yet we felt so safe.
What do you think to Creepy Caves? Which version of the maze do you prefer?
Thank you for reading as always xo
