I was thinking the other day I wonder how each of the UK parks will look in 10 years. It made me think a lot about the current line ups, what might change or leave & what we could get brand new? So I thought it would be rude to not share it with you guys too. Therefore let’s have a chat & I’d love to hear your thoughts too.
Ride Removals:
I think there’s a handful of rides & attractions that could be removed. The enviable is more or less Quantum. After riding it again this season I came to realise how exhausted it feels now. I love the flat ride & it’ll forever break my heart to see leave. Yet I feel it’s probably going to be leaving within the next couple of years. Another few rides I think we’ll see leave is potentially Colossus, but with that, it also falls into another category in this post as well. I also think maybe Rush might see it’s the day. I genuinely hope I’m wrong when it comes down to Rush as I bloody adore that ride. But I’ve had a gutted feeling all this season it doesn’t have a long life span that I would hope it would have. Who knows though? I could be wrong or at least I hope I am. I do really believe though that Old Town will see an overhaul. I think that would include the current main circle of rides removed (excluding Samuari & Saw).
Re-Themes / Refurbishments:
I feel as if we could see some changes come to Derren Browns Ghost Train over the next couple of seasons. The former layout & story almost feel like it could be a sore subject since this whole pandemic. The whole cover your face section makes me think we could see some sort of change to come. Again I don’t know anything & could be wrong. I also think The Walking Dead:The Ride will receive a re-theme by time the next 10 years are up. I’d love to believe it could return to a family based attraction again. Maybe that’s the X love taking over my brain. I think if Colossus doesn’t leave the park that potentially we’ll see new trains & restraints eventually. If we do I can bet my last penny it would become a top quality coaster experience. An area I suspect to see changes are Angry Birds land. I’m unsure on the license span regarding the IP however I do believe it’ll be 10 years old in 2014. Therefore it’ll be more than likely coming to the end of its days. Of course, as I mentioned above about Old Town, I believe it’ll see a brand new overhaul & re-theme.
New Additions:
An ideal new additions to the lineup, in my opinion, is a classic log flume, to replace Loggers Leap. Yet that’s because I’m a log flume enthusiast, therefore, I can’t see it happening. I’d love to believe we’ll have a brand new rollercoaster within the next 10 years. It would be fab to see one built in the locations where Loggers currently stands SBNO or on the island next to The Swarm. I’m unsure on the chances of that happening, the type of rollercoaster or if that’s even possible for either spot I’ve mentioned. I do believe we’ll see a brand new proper hotel built with a boat to transport guest across the lake. I think it would shape Thorpe Park up beautifully. Of course, I’d love to see them keep the cabins still as a more affordable option for families and guest. But a proper hotel with a restaurant & shop inside.
There’s a rough idea of what I suspect Thorpe could look like in the next 10 years. What do you think? Let us know!
I think it’s Additions, Not Editions. Sorry?
What I would like to see:
– Rides with Capacity
– A Non IP Addition
– New Trains on Colossus (Taron Style)
– Hyper Coaster
– Rides Open from Opening to Close
– Attractions not themed to death (You advertise Swarm as dummies returning missing limbs and you wonder why attendance goes down that year)
– No more Publicity Stunts (Donating Urine for the Saw House for example)
– Stronger Security (I almost got in a fight here)
– Lap Bars on Saw
– GCI Titan Track Coaster where Loggers Leap was (No offense)
– Complete overhaul to Thorpe Shark Hotels (Bathrooms should not be soaking wet after 10 hours)
– Smoking Sections (I went to about 9 UK parks and they had the worst smoking policies)
