What If The Big One Was Different?

I am someone who will openly admit their love for The Big One. But I ain’t naive to the fact there’s so much which could of better too. Of course, the time this was built it was probably the best of its kind. I’m not here to slag it off in any shape or form but I thought it’ll be fun to share some ideas on how it could of been better. So without further ado let’s have a chat.

Airtime Hills:

Honestly if those drops on the “airtime hills” where a little more steeper they would be perfect. I know back in 1994 it was probably the best attempt of an airtime hill we could have. But just imagine if there was proper decent airtime hills, the thing would be an airtime machine.

Carriages / Back Rest:

Look the carriages all together are fine like the restraints are comfortable as are the seatbelts. The only downfall is the back rest is very uncomfortable. With The Big One not been the smoothest it can be some days those back rest just jab you in the side and it makes it way more uncomfortable then needs be. If they were flat or had some sort of padding on them it would be fine.

Boxed Corners / Edges / Banking:

I feel it almost relates back to the airtime hill point I made. If I was playing planet coaster I’d want to go over with the smooth all turns and banking. That’s all it needs. Some of the edges and turns/change in direction are quite boxed. Even if it had better banking on the times your going left & right.

Of course, I appreciate the fact we even have The Big One. By all means this is not me saying this rollercoaster is crap because it’s actually far from it. It’s just small aspects which could of been improved if it was built today I guess. Other than that though I cherish this coaster!

  1. Magnum XL has steeper drops so it was probably Geoffrey Thompson more than anything that decided on shallow drops.
