So Oktoberfest started at the resort on the 11th September & will run through to 4th October. We managed to fall lucky in grabbing tickets for the first Saturday! So here’s our trip report!
Honestly Alton Towers went above & beyond what we had anticipated. Pretty much everywhere across the front lawns were decorated. Even in spots like Mutiny Bay was decorated. I’m not usually one for themed audio however I adored the audio for this event. I loved how it made an appearance on the likes of Congo River Rapids as well.
The event was very well put together in the sense of COVID measures. The roaming actors had face mask which tied into their costumes. The tables were regularly cleaned down & disinfect whenever a group left. They were also spaced out perfectly too. Not to forget all catering outlets provided hand sanitizers and had shielding screens up too.
We managed to sit through the entertainment from start to finish. Safe to say we were very drunk by the end of it. However each act they had on offer were fab. The only thing I will say is the playlist could of differed a little bit more. By the end of the day we knew every song off by heart haha. But everyone was fab and really made the day!
Yesterday we managed to do two rides but it wasn’t due to the queue times etc. It was purely to the fact we got so into our beer that we lost track of time. But we managed to experience Nemesis & Congo River Rapids which was fun! Of course, the rides are open until 8pm which means you can probably grab a night ride on at least one of your favourites.
I’m not someone for bratwurst however Ant did have the chilli one & said it was amazing. Pricing wasn’t all that bad neither. No annual pass discount is available across the food & drink outlets. I indulged into 2 pretzels which were delicious & only £3. Drink wise I ended up drinking 7/8 pints of Becks the entire night haha. Again reasonable and affordable pricing at £4.60.
There was a lot more merchandise then I had anticipated in all honesty. There was pin badges, steins plastic & ceramics, hoodies & t shirts. We picked up a pin badge and plastic stein. Annual pass discount was available on merch.
Overall we had an absolutely brilliant time. The event felt so well put together & organised. It was almost something I think we all needed and need for those who haven’t visited yet. It’s an event I’d really recommend not missing out on. It’s definitely family friendly and has the best atmosphere. Alton Towers have truly done an outstanding job with this event & we hope it returns next season!
