Day 3 of our trip was visiting the Island Like No Other and it was a Saturday! We expected it to be rammed given it’s the first Saturday of the 2019 season. Anyway onto our blog we hope you all enjoy.
Freshness:
Honestly the place looks fab and really fresh. Majority of places around have been painted and Tidal Wave has a new sponsorship by Oasis rather than Dr Pepper. The short cut bridge by Tidal Wave to Angry Birds Land isn’t there anymore. Elsewhere around the park has seen some changes like the new Rumba Rapids boats. They all look pretty fab & we’re not sure if it’s just us but it feels like Rumba has upped its game. There’s been countless changes across the food outlets & menus. Basically Thorpe Park looks & feels fresh and anything which wasn’t quite perfect before visually is now perfect.
Closed Rides;
Honestly there’s no major rides or coasters closed it’s more like flat rides which aren’t out of their winter maintenance. At the time Quantum & Zodiac which isn’t ideal for flat ride queues given those two rides help spread the queues. For us personally quantum is a huge quality pleasure! But in comparison to Chessington it’s a much preferred closed line up.
Throughputs & Operations;
As expected there was staff training which is something, we have a lot of time for given we can only imagine how they are feeling. However for us it felt very busy on park and there was several not so respectful people around. As for the coasters and rides as a whole honestly the throughputs were fairly impressive. Those staff who are training are doing an amazing job and deserve to know how well they are doing. But for us it was a little busy so we left early around 2pm.
Overall:
Honestly the park as a whole looks gorgeous and really up to date. For us we found it very busy and there was too many people not quite understanding personal space which isn’t great in such hot weather. We will be returning some point in the upcoming weeks during an off peak day. Once we do we will share a proper review given it’s hard to do so at the moment due to lack of time there.
