40 Years of Alton Towers!

Today is the day that Alton Towers officially turns 40. Of course we haven’t been visiting all that time (we’re too young) but it’s been a HUGE part of our (my) life’s for 6 years. Those 4 years since been an enthusiast definitely feel a lot longer. I have also put together a collaboration post with many other enthusiast which I’ll link HERE.

Alton Towers has always felt like home to us. Stepping through those gates it’s a feeling like no other. There’s only one park which has gave us this feeling which is Disneyland Paris. I feel the park has such a pure atmosphere and the theming mixed with audio creates a lovely vibe. Walking down Towerstreet is an immense feeling of excitement regardless of the fact regardless of how often we visit it still continues to fill us with pure excitement. I’ve decided to do a small series talking all about Alton Towers and our memories. This post is basically our overall love for the place.

My First Visit:

My first visit was without Ant and during a school trip in 2014. I remember my school handing out the letters and I wanted to cry with excitement. It was my first visit ever time heading there. I had no idea what to expect and nor did I have a preview of the rides via the monorail, as we arrived by coach. Heading through those gates and no rollercoaster or ride in sight built up such anticipation (I sure wasn’t disappointed neither). I had no idea what these rides looked like or involved except Thirteen & The Smiler. Me & my friend kept walking left from Towerstreet. Stumbled across the likes of Runaway Mine Train, The Flume etc. We ended up in Forbidden Valley. I remember stopping and just looking like wow these coasters are quite so different to what I’ve seen elsewhere (excluding Nemesis). But this park had this pure beautiful feeling surrounding it. I felt a sense of love for coasters like I never had before this visit. I remember heading into X Sector I looked at The Smiler and couldn’t believe how big it was. There was track just everywhere and I looked at Oblivion with utter shock I had never seen a drop like it. Alton Towers filled me with nothing but unusual feelings during this visit I found myself feeling a sense of passion like never before. Afterwards I was filled with sadness that I wasn’t there every day. It was my first experience feeling this burning urge to experience more rollercoasters elsewhere.

Our First Visit:

Two years later I brought Ant tickets for his birthday. But we binge watching Theme Park Worldwide vlogs and couldn’t wait no longer so ended up going the month prior. I was over the moon at the fact I was heading back and was thrilled to see Ants reaction. I remember going along the monorail and telling Ant what I had experienced already. Heading through those gates I felt a sense of home which was odd given I had only visited once before. I looked at Ants face and his was beaming with excitement. Prior to this Ant was never “big” into theme parks or coasters. We went into X Sector first I remember Ant was VERY unsure about The Smiler as off ride it looked intimidating. But I remember as we were about to leave Ant turns to me like shell we get a return ticket? At this point you could purchase next day tickets for £10. So we did. Then after that we were speaking about our utter love for the park then Ant was like right we’re getting merlin annual passes! That’s how this all began.

Becoming An Enthusiast:

Alton Towers definitely was the breaking through for us both where we knew this was going to become a massive part of our life’s. If we didn’t visit Alton Towers when we did I highly doubt we would of visited half the parks we have and even become enthusiast. It was the park which introduced us to a whole different world of coasters and it gave us a feeling of escapism and passion. The more & more vloggers we found the more we began to acknowledge the title “theme park enthusiasts” and that was all down to Alton Towers.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this blog I will be sharing a more in depth get to know us soon. As well as some more 40 year celebration posts too.
