I thought I’d discuss the rides which in our opinion had or have more to give then they do. These are simply our opinions but we would love to hear your thoughts too.
Duel – Alton Towers:
By all means I’m not saying this isn’t a decent ride because it is. It’s one which we enjoy a lot. Yet we do believe there’s so much room for improvement. Simply removing the UV of their animatronics is a step in the best direction because they look horrific. Simple lighting changes and updates across those more tiresome props. Personally I’d love to see some scenes just updated to a more modern style. Some installation of screens and physical effects like smell pods. There’s a lot of potential even the smallest of things to say the least.
Icon – Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Don’t get me wrong Icon is fab and for the UK it sure is a treat. Yet there’s definitely potential in how this could of been even better. Those twist and turns towards the end of the ride could of been improved with one final inversion. The launches a little more fast by literally a few miles per hour it doesn’t even have to beat records. Everything else for Icon is fine it’s just the smaller things which could well of been better.
Alice – Blackpool Pleasure Beach
It has an insane amount of potential this ride. We’re looking over at The Ghost Train for sure! If Alice was to receive the similar love that the Ghost Train does on a regular basis genuinely this ride could well be perfect. Simply heading across the older scenes and making them more modern would be enough. Covering the UV lighting or even updating that all together would be something. I think this ride could well be one of the best at the park if it had the same level of care that it’s neighbour dark ride has.
Derren Brown Ghost Train – Thorpe Park
We’ve both spoken a lot between ourselves about how much of a missed opportunity this ride is. If they headed more down the route of Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris but a much scarier own brand or same as it is now would of been fab. The VR has really began to feel stale amongst the theme park industry especially in the UK! There’s so much this ride could of been and in fact we do have an entire blog post about this coming soon.
Room on the Broom – Chessington World of Adventures:
I know this has only recently been done out. But there’s so much potential with this walk through. Simply adding in a themed member of staff to guide the groups through would be a huge stepping stone. During both run throughs we’ve had yes it looks insanely gorgeous but it’s so unorganised and next to nobody knew what was happening. The children of the group missed the interactive elements and it was genuinely unorganised. Simply adding that member of staff during off peak as I’m unsure how this works during on peak would be enough. There is nothing else needed to improve this attraction at all.
