Turns out from a lot of research I’ve been doing recently in regards to birthdays and anniversary of rides & attraction 1987 was a pretty big ordeal for the industry. So let’s talk of those attractions which opened during this year.
Scorpion Express – Chessington World of Adventures
Of course 2014 was when this rollercoaster saw a re-theme to Scorpion Express. But the coaster itself has been operational since 1987. This is definitely one of the best Mack Family Powered Coasters. It’s so much fun and has some real fab effects to add to that too.
Flying Jumbo & Toadie Cars:
Both of which are receiving a re-theme for this season which is fab. But these two editions opened within 1987. They still proof to be firm family favourites and more so this upcoming season with their new themes & names.
Alton Towers Monorail:
Unfortunately now days it looks tired and throughputs aren’t great at all. But it’s still a form of transport to avoid the walk which I hate. If you arrive there early enough you’ll be in the park for bang on ERT.
Rumba Rapids – Thorpe Park:
Personally our favourite rapids within the The UK now with Splash Canyon closed. They have become so much fun in comparison to what they once was. In our opinion they seem choppy and those effects make a huge difference inside the tunnel. We do hope these stay for a long while.
Maurders Mayhem – Alton Towers:
The best barrel ride in the UK right? We adore this ride so much and always have a lot of fun on here. It’s one of those real overshadowed rides which doesn’t get mentioned much yet it’s a underrated gem.
Sky Ride:
A little gem. Especially during those longer days and the walk gets a bit much basically it’s perfect if you struggle with walking like I do. My multiple health conditions means I find this incredibly useful. You do get some gorgeous views as well which is a n added bonus.
Buffalo Mountain Coaster – Drayton Manor:
Childhood classic and such an iconic ride for Drayton Manor. It’s the ride which has seen countless changes across the park but always remained operational. We love this little gem and hope it has a long lifespan ahead.
Pleasurewood Hills Chair Lift:
We’ve never actually experienced because I’ve got a phobia of this kind of chairlift. But this looks like you’d get some gorgeous views of Pleasurewood Hills.
What’s your favourite of the 1987 rides?
