Theme Parks - Themed Attractions

Thorpe Parks Next Big Project..

As 2020 marks the brand new decade its hard to not look into the future and speculate what will be occurring. That’s not even just for Thorpe Park it’s for the theme park industry as a whole. But today let’s talk all things Thorpe Park & What is next for them.

Disclaimer: Nothing within this blog post is confirmed it’s simply just speculation and a matter of opinion. We, of course, know nothing of what’s to happen in the future.

After all the years of submitting planning applications & them been approved really, it’s time they actually erected a hotel. Of course, the Shark Cabins are a thing and are decent for a couple of nights kip but the current prices just aren’t justifiable. I think Thorpe Park would highly benefit from a brand new hotel with entertainment inside and offering the same as the Cabins do.

The land behind The Swarm is simply the ideal location for a brand new coaster to open right? It seems to have received more clearance from recent air images from the likes of Google Maps. As for the new rollercoaster, I have no idea what it might be but the consistent rumours of an RMC I personally think are doubtful. I reckon something more along the lines of a Hyper coaster or even a Dive coaster. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking from me I ain’t sure. But I definitely do predict within the next 5 years we’ll see a new coaster open or at least some form of groundwork.

Last year was a fab year for mazes and the event overall. The likes of Creek Freak I think was a fab insight into how the yearly expansion and changes are going to look like. I think every year the Halloween event will continuously grow and expand into with mazes similar to the newest edition for last year. I do believe The Walking Dead IP will be gone within the next year or two and in those spaces, some home brand mazes will open. As for what I’d love to see happen is more roaming entertainment along the lines of Scare Zones or just simply roaming actors.

I wouldn’t necessarily say along the lines of the 2019 line up of events. But summer lates are definitely one I reckon we will see return & become an annual thing again. Probably alongside several events which I wouldn’t even be able to list or think off.

First of all I’d hope that the likes of Loggers Leap & Slammer will be removed. What is worst than actually seen loved rides sitting there but not in operation? Whatever the future holds for the two attractions I simply hope something gets done with them sometime soon. As for other ride removals I think we will see the likes of Quantum, Vortex, Colossus & Rumba Rapids leave the park this decade. All of which are aged attractions which look somewhat unloved. As much as I love Rumba & Quantum I don’t think the future looks bright for neither unless they embark on a huge TLC programme. As for themes and IPs, I do think Angry Birds Land & The Walking Dead IPs will leave the park shortly. As for the future of X ride system I would love to see a return of the former theme.

Well let’s list some exciting birthdays ahead for this decade! Thorpe Park will turn 50 years old in 2029. Therefore that’s probably the biggest birthday and I reckon there’ll be something big to celebrate too. The likes of Tidal Wave, Nemesis Inferno, Colossus, Zodiac, Quantum, Vortex, Rush, Detonator etc will be hitting their 20th birthday some point this decade. Whether they all make it to this milestone I ain’t sure. The Swarm will be hitting it’s 10th birthday somewhat soon. So hopefully it’ll be the decade of celebrations and fab merchandise releases.
