REVIEW| Standard Speedy Pass – Blackpool Pleasure Beach

There’s 3 options for the speedy pass which all range in regards to prices. We’ll be reviewing the cheapest option which is the standard. There’ll be a list below of the prices and the differences. We will be reviewing the standard from our experiences.

Standard Speedy Pass: £15 – Wait the same time as the normal queue but just virtually instead of in the actual queue. Excludes; Avalanche, Icon, Avatar Airbender, Ghost Train, Skyforce & Grand National. But includes every other major coaster and few family rides that are included in the speedy pass.

VIP: £25- Reduces your queue time by 50%- Excludes Avatar Airbender, Skyforce, Icon, Avalanche, Grand National & Ghost Train.

VIP Plus: £50- Reduces your queue time by 90% and includes one ride on Grand National & Nickelodeon Streak. Includes all rides which are included on the speedy pass. All the excluded rides above are included on this pass for one shot only according to the website.

Our Review:

As we stated above we only have ever brought the standard passes to date. We don’t mind queuing virtually as whilst our phone is queuing for whatever ride we’d go & join another. If the virtual queue is on 1 hour we’ll join as many queues in the between time to get the most out of our day. We’ve done this ever since 2014 and always found it useful. Until our last visit which is what we’re about to talk about.

During opening weekend we didn’t plan to buy the speedy passes as we expected it to be quiet. That was completely far from the truth so around mid day -2pm, we decided to buy it to try & make the most out of our day. We instantly queued for The Big One which was on a 1 hour & 30 minutes. That was fine because within that time we jumped onto River Caves & got food. Once our time was up we headed to Big One and then queued for Wallace & Gromit.

Once we sat down after our ride and checked the queue time Wallace & Gromit had broken down. The speedy pass does pause your queue when a ride breaks down which means it will resume queuing again once the ride reopens. We cancelled that reservation and wanted to queue for Infusion. But we had noticed that a few rides turned to an amber colour. That’s never happened before whilst we’ve used the speedy pass. When we clicked on it and it said we had to pay an extra £6 on each of those rides to queue for them. However those rides are included in the standard pass but for some reason we had to pay extra if we wanted to ride? Within the time of having the speedy passes we managed to ride 3 rides as some were full & others for some reason, we had to pay an extra £6 for.

We’d highly recommend if you do wish to get the passes to buy them at the start of the day. We’ll leave a few tips below for anyone who does or is going to buy the standard passes. It’s worth the money when using them for a full day rather then a few hours. Again we’d recommend having a power bank to hand and using the mobile version. If you use the Q Bots you have to leave a £50 deposit which if any damage happens to it you won’t get it back. It’s just much easier using your mobile phone and all of your party or group can be included on the one phone.

TIPS;

  • If you don’t own a season pass we’d recommend you buying online via the website straight away if you suspect the park will be busy. However if you own a season pass we’re unsure if you can redeem your discount online so head straight to the speedy pass office.
  • We’d recommend you queue for Nickelodeon Streak first as that usually opens just before every other coaster. It’s also only ever on one train and gets very busy later in the day. If there’s a small queue for the Streak then jump into Ice Blast queue once entering the park.
  • Another ride we suggest queuing for early in the day is The Big One as again it’s a main coaster which gets very busy. Unless you don’t mind the virtual queue been as big as 1 hour or more. Sometimes the speedy pass queue will become full and that means potentially you won’t be able to queue at all for it.
  • Whilst your phone or bot is queuing head to the rides which aren’t included such as Skyforce, Ghost Train, Avalanche etc.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this blog & it helps get the most out of your passes and day.
