Reality Of Being A Theme Park Enthusiasts.

This blog isn’t to say that everyone has the same experiences or feelings as us however here’s our reality of being a theme park enthusiast. We hope nobody takes this blog too personal or offensive. We’d love to hear your thoughts below or across our socials.

People Not Understanding:

This is probably pretty common and relatable for most enthusiasts. Not everyone quite understands that this is a thing & it’s a hobby. We’ve been asked countless times “don’t you get bored or why visit so many times”. It’s completely okay for people to not understand but accepting somebody has a different hobby to the norm should be easier than it clearly is. We’ve had countless indirect statuses about how we afford it and sometimes direct comments. Our advice would be don’t feel worried about talking about your hobby it’s okay to be different. Don’t worry about what other people think or say as it’s what you enjoy and that’s all that matters.

Expensive Hobby:

Again this is probably quite relatable for so many of us. It can be a pretty expensive hobby given tickets, hotels, travel & food etc. This is something we like to believe we’ve become better at handling over the 3 years. If we don’t need a hotel we won’t book one. Season passes is pretty much key for those places that you spend a lot of time at. It’s a main factor to our Merlin passes to save those pennies for bigger trips elsewhere. This year we’ve brought the Blackpool passes as that was the place that cost us the most. We just need to master the Europe trips to make them cost effective.

Abuse For Theme Park Related Clothing:

Yes this has happened believe it or not. We’re very sorry if what we’re about to share offends anyone but this is what we’ve experience, if you don’t wish to read please skip ahead. However Ant wore a Smiler t shirt out and about. We were told that “we wanted to loose our legs” over a microphone outside a pub & in front of a massive crowd. As you can imagine it was completely uncalled for and very embarrassing but not only that it was disrespectful to those who were sadly involved in the crash. We wasn’t in that pub only passing by. Since we tend to wear more discreet clothing in non theme park related places.

Favourite Trains / Seats:

Prior to getting into our coasters we never had any favourite trains or seats. Now we have specific seats we have to try and get on for almost every coaster. A main one for us is Nemesis & Inferno back rows. They are the rows we always tend to have the best rides. Whereas The Smiler front row is a must for comfort and best possible ride experience! Yet we try our hardest to avoid back row on The Smiler due to roughness.

Closed Season Sucks:

Especially if you don’t get the chance to go abroad for their theme parks during closed season. We struggle to remember what we used to do before this hobby. Closed season is pants and it can be quite depressing to be truthful. You get the season blues and those troubles these places once took away are now at the forefront of your mind really.

Addiction To Collecting Merchandise:

Now this is something we’re not sure that everyone may have. Yet for us we are addicted to pin badges & resins. Both of which can be a very expensive when buying multiple of them. However we like to have full collections and that does add up to one massive sum by end of season. But that’s cool because they are very pretty items. We did once collect mugs but now we have far too many.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this blog and again we apologise for any offensive or upset some of what we’ve shared has caused. These are all from personal experiences and sadly some are very harsh and upsetting to say the least. We’d love to know what you’ve experienced below or across our socials.
