As the opening weekend for Pleasure Beach is fast approaching and most people will do the Merlin attractions prior. We’ve decided to share our 5 top tips for ensuring you get the most out of your visit. These are what we find most helpful and help saving time and money too.
1)) Arrive early:
Although effectively in February these attractions may not be the busiest they can be. However later in the season we’d recommend heading to your first attraction prior to the opening time. You can potentially be the first in and to get your tickets without any big queue. If you’re a merlin annual pass holder look out for a sign for your specific entrance.
2)) Have An Plan Of Order:
We always have a specific order of each attraction we do first and last. Usually we head to Madame Tussauds for the opening. It’s normally extremely quiet all year round at this time. It gives the perfect chance to have a proper roam around and get any images you wish. We then head into the Sealife next as its just next door. The Sealife usually during school holiday’s get majorly busy. It’s sometimes unbearable how busy it gets, so if you’re not into crowded environments we’d recommend avoiding at all cost. Our final attraction is usually the Tower Eye as it never gets that busy and everyone spreads out once up the top.
3)) Embrace All Experiences
Every attraction has different experiences to offer some free and some for an extra fee. Some of which can be easily missed when in Madame Tussuads try the laser experience prior to the Marvel section. There are options to have a hand wax model for an extra fee. In every Merlin attraction there’s professional photographers ready to captures photo’s with waxworks or against a green screen. If that’s something you’re interested in ask what offers are available and ask if your merlin annual pass entitles you to any discount. As you never know until you ask and from time to time there’s some decent offers available. If you don’t want your photo taken don’t be afraid to just say no thank you as the staff are always polite and understanding.
Perhaps you love to collect pop badges usually if you ask politely in the shops they will give some. If you’re in the Sealife there’s a booklet you collect at the start and stamp as you go along then collect a pop badge at the end. When visiting the Blackpool Tower if you go to the top floor there’s a small crazy golf. It can be easily missed if you didn’t know it was there. Ask at the entrance what offers are available for passholders during your visit. As they offer afternoon tea in the Ballroom for discounted prices sometimes.
4)) Make Use Of The Trams:
If you’re staying or parked your car down towards the south end of the promenade catch the tram! Not until more recently did we release just how cheap and helpful the trams are. As we always stay next to Pleasure Beach and use the car park opposite as it’s quite cheap. We now always catch the tram up to the attractions it saves time and is super affordable. It’s something like £11 for three adults for 24hrs. You can visit places outside of Blackpool on them too for no extra such as Fleetwood etc.
5)) Affordable Places To Eat:
If your spending majority of your day around attractions and need a bite to eat. Go behind the attractions as it’s the town centre. If you go down the street opposite the bath and body shop, there is a place where you can get food for £1 which is a massive saving. The food quality isn’t bad either and is well worth doing. If that’s not something you’re interested there are plenty of popular fast food places such as KFC and McDonalds too.
We hope this helps at least one person on their next visit. Let us know if you’d like to see more of these type of blogs in the future.
