X to The Walking Dead: The Ride;
We loved X as a mid way attraction and thought it was a fab family attraction. Now it’s changed to The Walking Dead it’s now got the height limit of 1.4m which takes it away from been a family edition. As for the ride itself now it’s okay but certainly nothing to scream about. We preferred it as X as it was a break from the thrill and darker themed rides. Of course the coaster layout itself hasn’t actually changed but it now themed from start to finish. For those who enjoy the programme you’ll enjoy this re-theme.
Dragon Falls to Tiger Rock;
We adore log flumes and any water rides really. Dragon Falls was our favourite log flume. We were over the moon it never got removed like The Flume did at Alton Towers, or left SBNO like Loggers Leap at Thorpe Park. The fact it just received a re-theme was fab. It now looks more modern and fresh in comparison to how it did before. One of the main improvements and changes was the station it’s gorgeous inside now. That whole area is a shadow of its former self and is completely beautiful start to finish. The concept of interacting with Amur Tigers is pretty unique and something special especially for the UK. Chessington nailed the re-theme for sure and we can’t express our love the changes.
The Wild West Shoot Out to Sheriff Showdown
This was more a refurbishment than anything else with a name change. There weren’t by all means massive changes but the little improvements made the world of difference. They brought the guns and targets up to a more modern design. This made it easier to get points and shoot whereas the older ones were pretty hard to get a decent score with (or at least that’s what I blamed my crap scores on aha). The introduction of a pre show on the trains as you enter is something we quite like. Inside the lighting and animatronics have been updated and look much better than they did. Smaller changes have really impacted the experience in a bigger way.
Derren Brown’s Ghost Train Rise of the Demon;
This season there was smaller improvements made to the experience, so we’ll class it as refurbishment. During the 2018 season we’ve saw the middle section change where the illusion of the train crashing against the barrier, you now walk down a scare maze style section. There wasn’t a great ordeal of changes just smaller improvements. Every season since opening something has changed whether it’s the VR sections or finale. It does keep it fresh and that more exciting to keep experiencing.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this blog, let us know your thoughts on the changes you’ve got to experience this season.
