What’s The Curse at Alton Manor? – Alton Towers Brand New Ride for 2023

Formerly known as Duel until the property got re-possessed back in September 2022. Now set to be known as The Curse at Alton Manor. How exciting? So, here is all we know so far and this will be updated as and when more information is released which according to the press release it’s set to be in the next month further details are going to be shared. I’ll also be sharing my opinions throughout this post.

New Name:

No longer known as Duel or The Haunted House. Instead, it’ll be known as The Curse at Alton Manor. The name has given the ride a darker feel already as Duel always felt quite lighthearted and airy which is specifically what it was. But this name change has set up expectations for spookiness inside. It just sounds ghostly & I quite like that as well. Let’s hope it reflects truly what occurs throughout.

New Theme:

It seems to be very doll heavy at the moment given the art which got shared (see below). If you look closely you can spot there’s a figure in the window of the house which I believe is the rides building but it does look virtually like a doll’s house too. So, we can assume this theme will feature a lot of dolls. I can see it having some Easter eggs for Emily the ghost who lived in the doll’s house which was located in Duels queue line. But it also gives off some serious Attic vibes too!

What We Know So Far?

What has been shared so far is the fact this Manor is cursed and it’ll be a haunting dark ride. The image features an ungodly amount of dolls which therefore puts in mind the fact they will be heavily featured throughout the ride. Breaking down the concept art there are a lot of spooky atmospheres built. It’s very evident it’ll be a the darker vibe throughout than Duel once was. Another key component that’s not featured on this the poster is the guns. I would assume they have been dismissed to allow this attraction to be purely a ghost train-like ride without any interactive feature. Personally, I’m glad about this.

What Do I Anticipate Inside?

I’d love to think it’ll be almost like a Ratatouille style of theming characteristics throughout where you feel tiny and everything around you is quite large. I’m hoping there’ll be an easy-to-follow story with some stunning audio for complimenting. I’d love to see animatronics rather similar to those which move fairly lifelike. I’m very excited to see what has happened inside and can’t wait to Share a review afterwards.

Check back here next month once more details get shared! How hyped are you for this ride?
