So, earlier this month, we were heading to London as you may have seen the small series of blog posts from the trip. On the way during the coach journey, I detected a travelling fun-fair from a fair decent away. At that specific moment, I asked myself “ what attracted my attention that quickly?”. This then led me to drop down a few notes on my phone for this blog post!
One of the first things I wrote was “is it the inner enthusiast in me or is it normal?”…
What is the appeal to themed attractions?
After a lot of thought, I have concluded my brain & what I think of instantly when thinking of a themed attraction. That’s the inquisitiveness of what to expect on the interior of the venue it’s located at. What’s behind those gates? What can be experienced and will those experiences affect my current stance on how I think about select rides & attractions. I love the new sentiment of exploring someplace different. Especially if it’s replenished with character.
Representation, colour scheme & exterior theming. They are 3 of the body characteristics on this score for me. If those three things appeal to my mind I quickly desire on-board with wanting to plunge further to have a hands-on experience for myself. I tend to find if something on the external side doesn’t look appealing I’ll steer away or I’ll be captivated to see further. But for me in that moment of spotting the fair, I was immediately drawn to the big rollercoaster in the bright colours. That was the main factor for me. I instantly thought “+1??”. That is the conventional enthusiast philosophy to have, right?
I feel from a clear-minded & non-enthusiast mindset it could be the same as the 3 factors I contained above. I think the colouring of the rides & attractions virtually have to have that charm to them to make them stand out to then think I have to experience this. I could be wrong. But the whole experience of a themed attraction almost has to be replenished with specific sounds, smells, lighting and theming in my mind.
