There’s no click bait in this title and in fact it was definitely partly my fault to why it happened too. I’m sharing this post in hope, it would cheer someone’s day up as everyone I’ve told has found it hilarious! So enjoy!
Last year around late September we headed to West Midlands Safari Park. Now one of my bucket list animals to feed has been a Zebra ( no joke). So as we drove into the first area you come into during the Safari. There’s Zebra mixed with other animals. I was happily feeding the deers then the Zebra comes over and eats beautifully of my hand. No indication of aggression at all. I thought oh how lovely!
Continued round feeding the animals where there’s no signs indicating not too. Come to the bit where the Congo Buffalos were. Fed them and they were lovely. In comes a grumpy looking Zebra I was aw bless he looks cute! Stuck my hand out with the some food. Next thing I know CHOMP!
Okay the pain legit can not be described. I honestly thought this dude had broken my hand. Lucky enough I weren’t engaged at this point because I would of lost my ring for sure. I legit had to force my hand out of its mouth. Quickly done the window up I was very shaken up. Like it took me by surprise so much. I looked at my hand and it was bleeding pretty badly. I got the nearest anti bacterial wipe and cleaned it. Of course we had no plasters to hand and I couldn’t stop the bleeding.
We came out of the Safari and I said to Ant like pull up and let’s attempt to stop the bleeding. Of course we pull next to an ambulance. At this point I was questioning whether I should of even fed the Zebras. I thought let’s check the box (too little too late) and nope you aren’t meant to feed them. All the other animals you weren’t suppose to feed had signs in their enclosures or it was simple common sense. Headed to the local Tesco brought some plasters & headed home.
First thing on the Monday I call my GP to enquire whether I’d need to be checked. Turns out I needed my jabs! The doctor & nurse that saw me found it extremely hilarious.
I’ll insert a pic of my finger it chomped on a few days after it happened below!
That’s my experience with a Zebra, hope you found this funny as I do now looking back! But be aware Kids do not feed Zebras!

What jabs did you have to have if you don’t mind me asking?
It was just the tetanus vaccine thankfully! Was quite the experience to explain to why it was needed
