I’ve not done many of these attractions but from the two I’ve experienced, I know for a fact I don’t enjoy them. I’ll have a chat with you guys about the many reasons why I dislike these attractions but will also include a handful of good things too.
The thing I hate the most is the fact I always find myself hiding behind the tallest person in the room to avoid been picked on. It really does ruin the attractions for me but I can’t help myself. There’s nothing worst then been called out to speak in front of an audience. It makes my anxiety peak and I can’t handle it at all. That’s one of the main hates I have for this style attraction due to I find myself wasting the entire time hiding. Sometimes I find them quite cliche & cringe in regards to the acting but I get that’s the whole point. The last time I done a dungeons style attraction the actors were making it extremely obvious about where the buttons were for effects which spoilt that illusion. But these attractions aren’t for me. It’s not even like I’m against having fun but my anxiety dies when entering this sort of attraction as I’m praying so hard I don’t get picked on.
For the times I’ve never been called out these attractions are fun. My mum is a big fan of this style of attraction she finds it really fun. Whereas me & Ant just can’t enjoy ourselves given the fact we don’t want to be picked on. The humour throughout can be hilarious and the actors can play their roles so well. One of the best scenes I’ve encountered is the finale at Alton Towers that’s one of the scariest dungeon scenes I’ve experienced. The effects throughout are perfectly done and I can see why these attractions are loved. Theming can be done insanely well and the smell pods throughout are definitely interesting to say the least. Dungeons can do scary extremely well as in Blackpool’s we had some very good jump scares. There are many reasons why they are FAB!
Basically these attractions can be real fun for those who feel comfortable enough to be called out and speak in front of audience. But for me my anxiety is far too bad to enjoy this kind of thing. The thought of been called out and asked to say a word quite literally terrifies me.
Do you enjoy Dungeon attractions?
