Everything Wrong With UK Water Rides.

Honestly I am a huge fan of water rides and I adore the fact the UK has a fair few. But I’m going to have a chat about everything wrong with the UK ones. These are just my thoughts on the topic & I’d love to know yours.

Weather:

In the UK it’s not often it’s the right weather to be riding water rides. We have a selection which are full on soakers which really you can’t appreciate bar 3 months max a year without freezing to death afterwards. The likes of Tidal Wave, Valhalla & Stormforce 10 are the biggest soakers the UK has (that I’ve ridden). But it’s so rare that’ll ride these outside of the summer months but then they end up having huge queues. I occasionally give Valhalla a shot in February but clothing wise it’s a pain to attempt to stay dry.

Effects / Reliability:

When talking about reliability of course it all comes down to Valhalla mainly. The effects inside were so unreliable that sometimes it wasn’t even worth risking getting that wet to have next to nothing working. At one point we rode Valhalla a few years again and in almost complete darkness with little to not effects working. Yet we still got equally as soaked as usual but with nothing worth while to justify the wetness. The likes of Stormforce 10 unfortunately went through a stage with little reliability like breakdowns and the pre drop lift stopped working. However since it’s had a year off for refurbishment it’s much more reliable.

Big Queues:

The one time you can fully appreciate these soakers is during the busiest time of the season, summer. Usually the queues are immensely bigger then normal and sometimes you can be waiting for over an hour. However the likes of Tidal Wave you don’t really have to wait to experience it just standing in the splash zone is enough.

Other Water Rides:

As for the more relaxed and enjoyable water rides there’s really not much wrong with them. Other than the fact is we don’t have anywhere near as many as I’d quite love to have. The likes of Tiger Rocks springs to mind as one of the fewer log flumes which can be fully embrace all year found. Of course the indoor water (boat) rides are fab to. Without a doubt a few needs updating like River Caves but all in all these are ones which are fab for the entire season.
