We love Drayton Manor and it’s our local park so there’s no shade with anything said in this blog. I can’t decide whether to include G Force or not given it’s still standing. But here’s our ranking of the coasters that are at Drayton Manor. We hope you enjoy and we’d love to how you’d rank them too.
Accelerator:
We are such a sucker for this coaster especially since the overhaul a few years ago. The theming added a whole new lease of life to the coaster and made the queue line so much more bearable to queue in. When it was themed to Ben 10 the queue line was much darker and difficult to see where you were going. As for the ride experience it’s so much fun, decent length and fair few pops of intensity. If you sit on the back row going up backwards can be a little terrifying. It’s fab for the entire family and a ride you could easily do 2-3 times when it’s quiet. Not to forget the pops of airtime is something I adore.
Shockwave:
It’s the UKs only stand up coaster and I believe Europe’s too. Admittedly it isn’t the most comfortable coaster with the way you stand and how the restraints sit on you. However front row is worth any queue in our opinion to get the most and best out of the coaster. It’s really enjoyable and is pretty smooth on the front row. I think we’d rank it higher if it was back on two trains with a faster throughput and maybe some more theming.
G Force:
Maybe it’s something about the coasters at Drayton Manor but front row was always the best. Of course it’s no longer in operation and sadly retired since last season. However as it’s still standing why would we not include it? We had the best ride we ever had during the fireworks in 2017 on the front row. In the dark it became a much better ride experience. It of course had those real uncomfortable tightening restraints which by the end of the duration it’d be crushing you. Not to forget the awkward hang time on the lift hill but that’s exactly what made it unique for both good and bad reasons.
Buffalo Mountain Coaster:
Truthfully my heart is telling me to rank this so much higher but only due to how much I adore it. However on a realistic note this is sat perfectly in the list. It’s the coaster which once made me anxious because the slow moment of coming out the station into the helix lol. It’s adorable it’s been a ride I’ve always loved since been so young so it’s a real childhood classic. We always have loved it and always will love it too. This season we’ve found it ride the best it has done in years and pretty smooth.
Troublesome Truck:
Gerstlauer junior coaster and it’s fab. Of course it doesn’t compare to other coasters on park as it isn’t aimed for our age group. It was a firm favourite growing up though. During the magical Christmas we fully embrace this coaster. It’s fun and got a decent duration to it as well.
