How exciting is this concept though? As someone who passionately loves Waterparks, this fills me with such joy to see. By all means, it hasn’t got approval as of yet but the fact it could get the green light is enough to get me hyped. Let’s take a further look into this news & concept art that has been shared recently. As you are aware all images are not mine & are what have been shared by the park.
Where?
This is set to be located on the back of the already existing Safari Hotel. With pools set to overlook the Wanyama Reserve.
What?
This waterpark is set to be located on two levels with the downstairs level being outdoors. Allowing guests to get even closer to the animals with a floor-to-ceiling fish tank as well as closer access to view the meerkat enclosure from the lazy river. This will feature a spa area, a wave pool, a lazy river as well as slides. Including an indoor & outdoor selection as well. It seems there’ll be utilising the already existing Zafari Bar & Grill as part of the indoor restaurant for the waterpark.
Theme:
The concept art features a heavy indicating jungle/rainforest type of theme. The prominent theming the element was an extensive elephant statue. Could this be related to their brand new 2023 Jumanji-themed area? It’s unclear at this stage. However, the theme also sets to be perfectly in a tie with the hotel it’ll be connected to.
When?
At the moment of this blog, there is no time is set for the opening of this project. However, it does seem that the application is due to be submitted in early 2023 which we then assume all get the green light. To I would suspect an opening in early 2025 maybe late 2024. I do not know the duration that it would take to assemble a waterpark. But a consistent year I keep seeing is 2025.
Our Thoughts:
The amount of investment happening over Chessington is a joy to watch. As I spoke of before we love a good waterpark and this looks like it’ll be the perfect addition to the park. Offering that something to do outside of theme park season and it’ll undoubtedly lead to new visitors as well. The concept art looks stunning. If they pull that off it’ll be one if not the best themed waterparks here in the UK for sure. Let’s keep all things crossed this gets the go-ahead.
