My Top 5 Scare Mazes of 2022

Just like that spooky season is over & we’re now in November. I’m so sad to see the season come to an end as I definitely wasn’t done with it yet. But let’s have a look back as I share my top 5 scare mazes from this season!

5)) Doom Town – Tulleys Shocktoberfest

Wow, this maze visually merits being on this list. I have never seen such a surreal and stunning maze like this one before. Tulleys full-on assembled a town in the middle of their event, absolutely wild! Although this maze lacked scares and actors in general it did not affect the fact this has to be the most extraordinary scare maze to be created in the UK. It’s a maze I hope returns in 2023 just with a couple more actors! But if I have the chance to visit this town for another season I will be delighted.

4)) House of Wax – Dr, Frights Horrorworld:

The name alone practically put me off going inside. One of my greatest weak points is a combination of dummies to actors and this played on those fears perfectly. Dr Frights mazes have the most horrendous and unnerving vibe to them anyway. It was our first year visiting so it was a surprise to our system given we did not anticipate this tier of terror. A lot of this didn’t come down to the actors neither it was established by the atmosphere the mazes gave off. But this was grim but fab.

3)) Walsall Scare Maze:

Yet again this is incredible this season. Admittedly, last year was a lot more fierce but this year was great nonetheless. I cherished the fact they got rid of the interaction with guests as that’s something I have never truly enjoyed yet they still retained the stopping in each room providing respectable scares and horrific moments. Me & Ant got properly bullied during our run-through. Ant had “urine” rubbed his face and I had trickled over my hair. Oh, it was truly horrific but terrific too.

2)) The Attic – Alton Towers:

The eerie tale, with creepy dolls & a disgusting now-talking demon. It just has it all and is easily the best scare maze that Towers have ever done. The actors use their space so well & that horrid little skip they do in between sets for the following scare is scary in itself. I have never known there to be quite as many dolls as there was this season & truthfully that did me. I find dolls exceptionally spooky and I had some of the best scares of the season from them in this maze. The way the atmosphere keeps on getting tenser and then further into the maze goes purely due to the audio being insane. It also seems the horrendous Demon at the end now speaks too. This maze was the highlight of Scarefest this year and the strongest year for The Attic.

1)) The Village – Xtreme Scream Park;

What a maze this is. The Village is spectacular yet extraordinarily vile. I’m petrified of crows and of course, this maze is riddled with them and in places, you’d least predict. With this maze, you head through so many different scenes all of which use their sets to effortlessly create big scares like the school and the church. For me, this was one of the few mazes I almost cried in. It became a little too much for me & even when we left the maze they came running out to us and began to grab us. Ant got jumped in this maze as well. I have never been in quite an extreme maze before like this and as much as I was traumatised it was worth it.

So, what were your top 5 scare mazes of the season? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!

Thank you so much for reading & I’ll look forward to speaking with you guys!
